I DO know it means Very Important Person (duh - I'm 34 thank you very much) but what I don't understand is why there is one for a Bachelorette Party. Wouldn't the bride be the VIP? Why is there a list?

Hello Saltkid1,

Yes, the reason the hostess is requiring a separate list for the dinner and a separate "VIP list" for the Bachelorette Party is for the following reasons:

The first dinner list is for the hostess to determine the number of guests that will definitely show up at the restaurant dinner, so that the hostess would be able to make a reservation in advance and tell the restaurant's host the total number of guests that will definitely show up.

The second list is the VIP list for the Bachelorette Party at a nightclub. Basically, the main reason to get your name on the VIP List at a nightclub, is to ensure your access to the nightclub, so that you would avoid having to stand and wait in the long line at the entrance of the nightclub. Once your name is added to the VIP List, then the only thing you would have to do is show up at the main entrance of the nightclub and flash your ID Card and politely inform the security guard at the front entrance that your name is on the VIP List. Then he will let you enter the nightclub and enjoy the Bachelorette party.

Thanks and Good Luck.

Very Important Person maybe

The party is probably at an exclusive club, by invitation only, you must RSVP to get in on the list or they won't let you in.
