Question:

I need cheap ideas on how to through a 6 yr old boys birthday party for 30 plus kids .Both boys and girls .

Answers:
HOT DOGS are cheap!!! And most kids love them : )
Use lots of balloons (tie one to each of the children's chair).
That makes them feel a little important...
You can usually find inexpensive plates & stuff @ any local 'dollar store'.

Good luck!!

I would just have a party outside at your house...they are always fun. Have some games like twister, hopscotch, tag, freeze dance, sports, etc. As far as food....just go with something basic like hotdogs and hamburgers. For dessert, cake, brownies, and cupcakes.

Don't go overboard, six year olds can entertain themselves very well with basic games and are not going to care if you have some extravagant theme or anything.

If you have the space, I would use your backyard, and just have a BBQ. Hamburgers and hot dogs are cheap and easy. You could use basic outdoor games that you can find anywhere like Target. (Frisbee, jump rope, etc.) They will have fun just being outside and easily entertain themselves.

I have a little girl but she absolutely LOVED the 'bug' themed party we did for her on her 6th. We made dirt cakes (oreo pudding/cake, with gummy worms 'crawling' in them and sprinkled graham cracker crumbs on top). I bought a fish bowl and made blue jello 'water' with swedish fish floating in it. We also bought a lot of stretchy bugs, and plastic flys and snakes and gave as gifts in the bags. All the kids loved it. :) The possibilites are almost endless when you throw insects in the mix! lol

PLUS...I have her parties at a park shelter (usually near a playground). That is ALWAYS a hit. This year we had 28 kids!! :)

Good luck!! Hope this helps....

Children of that age like to be engaged and keep moving. I'd have alot of interactive events within your party. I'd suggest take and bake pizzas with toppings they can personalize pizzas within smaller groups. have cup cakes with a topping "bar" .Plan an activity while the pizzas are baking such as a scavenger hunt with clues and prizes, active games such as twister or musical chairs where there are prizes not only for the last person but under a special "chair". Egg races or a water balloon toss if the weather is hot. Then eat and have dessert. You'll want to serve the sugary cake right before they leave. Children around that age max out around two hours. Keep it focused , scheduled and relatively short. Protein before sugar and get your gift goodies at the dollar store.

orientaltrading.com. You can order all different types of party supplies, including "theme" party supplies and for much less than what you would spend at Walmart or Party Stores.

If the weather is nice just do an outside birthday party. It could be a pool party, or plan some fun activities outside for the kids. Like capture the flag and tag. As for food, treat it like a potluck. Ask each child's parent to bring a dish, something that all of the kids will enjoy. Like pasta and Mac and cheese. I've done things like this before and found it to be very helpful and less stress because you don't have to worry about the food.

Have the party at a park that has a pavillion. Generally you can get them for less than $50. Check your town or state park. There will generally be some type of ball field nearby as well as playground equipment. Let them play in the park and have an organized game of kickball. You will probably need a few parent helpers for this.

You could also get a pinata. They come prefilled at orientaltrading.com pretty inexpensivly. Let the children decorate their small lunch bags with arts and crafts stuff you get at the dollar store and this filled with the candy can be the favors.

Near the pavillion they generally have grills. Serve burgers and franks. Go to your discount or bulk store to buy them frozen with buns, large bags of chips, condiments, sodas or juices, etc. Make a big bowl of pasta salad. One that will stay good despite the heat will be 1 box of tri colored pasta, 1 bottle of italian dressing, and from there you can add anything you like. Generally I use onions, peppers, pepperoni, and diced cheese (although I have discovered crumbles and now don't take all the time to dice).

Don't spend too much money on decorations, table settings, etc.

Pirates are all the rage now! Go to Oriental Trading and order some pirates hats for the kids, plastic or chocolate coins, make a treasure box and make a map - stain it with tea and crumble it up a bit. The food can be simple, but make sure to have some fish sticks and grog.
Have fun!
