Potluck - Signs Identifying the Food?!

Question:

Potluck - Signs Identifying the Food?

I'm going to a potluck dinner tomorrow night where I'll know very few people. I know there will be many people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. I've made some cute little decorative signs for my dishes (sweet corn salsa and pumpkin spice muffins) with a list of the ingredients. As a vegetarian, I like to know what's in the food I'm eating. However, I don't want to look like a total keener! Are my little signs going overboard? Will I be the Potluck Nerd?

Answers:
NO - I would love you for it! I'm the same way - I want to know what it is and what is in it. I have food allergies - so potlucks are mine fields. Good for you!!!!

I don't think so I am vegan so it drives me crazy not to know what is in things and plus I think that its good so that people aren't guessing what it is..... great idea.....bahahaha and no your not a nerd

I think it's ok with the divers ethnic backgrounds .. if not for that, I would say it's overboard ...

Our get togethers are multi-cultural also .. so I think this would be well received.

I think they would be well recieved as well. I'm concerned about what I eat so the more the knowledge, the better!!!

No. It is a good idea. Some people are on special diets and can use this info.

People will like them. There have been a lot of dishes I've had to pass up because I didn't know if they had something I'm allergic to.

I've been to potlucks where the recipe is put on index cards and eanyone can take a copy if they want or identify what is in the dish. That way you don't have to guess or fumble around trying to give the recipe to someone.

It benefits vegetarians and people who must watch their salt, suger, ect. It's also great in case someone in the group has a food allergy to allert them to something they might not be able to eat.

Yes

If you can't identify the food, don't eat it. Just ask someone what they brought.

I wouldn't think so... believe it or not , but some of the ingredients people could be allergic to.. I think it would be very helpful.

What a good idea! ------ Bon Appetit!!

the signs are great and you will be the hostess with the mostest..........very good idea

just be creative..........you may get compliments!

No ... not going overboard! Maybe you are the leader! I think it's great to know what the ingredients are (and you never know, some people might have allergies and it's hateful to have to ask 'who made this and does it contain nuts?').

Potlucks are usually a thing where one talks about the food one is eating - and swaps recipes (someone mentioned recipe cards - fantastic idea, too!) - so I think your detailed signs are cute and helpful!

Probably. I can't understand vegetarians. The human body was designed to eat meat after all and there are certain vitamins and amino acids that can only be found in meat. That's why true vegetarians and vegans have to take supplements.

I love it, that's brilliant! That way people don't have to hunt down who made it and ask what's in it, how did you make it, etc..

I'll have to remember this one.
