Question: My father is turning 65 in July and we would like to throw him a surprise "medicare" party!. Any ideas!?
This party is going to be held in a barn at my parents house and we have some friends who are taking my Dad away and bringing him back at party time!. We are looking for ideas on decorations, favors, etc!. My Dad is so proud of his medicare card that he has been showing everybody! So we thought this would be a good "theme"!. We already have a pig roast, with full bar, moonwalk and fun slide for the kids and a band that will be performing!. We will also be doing a comedy roast of my Dad!. Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I LOVE the idea of blowing up his medicare card to poster size, I was going to say the same thing!. I would do that and make a few of them and hang them around the party!.

I would also decorate in the colors that are on the Medicare card and go with that in the balloons, streamers, etc!.

I would also decorate in the medical theme!. I wouldn't go as far as the wheelchair and canes though!. I would get some dr!. bags at the toy store or dollar store and fill them with flowers and make them the centerpieces!. I would get like the bandaid tins and make them hold the plastic forks, spoons, and knives, for the dinner, etc!. I would use medical things for decorations, band-aids, gauze, neosporin, things like that!. You can hang the medicare card with medical tape, etc!.

For favors, I would get those little Chinese take-out containers and make little first aid kits out of them, put like 2 band aids in each, some gauze, some travel aspirin, etc!. Go buy some boxes and split them up into the boxes!. Like get a box of travel aspirin, but split it into the boxes, get a box of band-aids but give each box one or two, get a box of gauze and give each box one or two packets, etc!. Then everyone has their own "free" medical care too!. LOL You can also decorate the box and put first aid on it, and make it fun, or instead of real aspirin put mints or candy in it!. Make it fun and light hearted!.

You can use white streamers as guaze and decorate with that!. If you can find vials, do a champagne toast to your dad in the vial, being they take blood in vials but instead of using champagne glasses, pour everyone's champagne in the vial!. It goes with the theme!. You can also serve everyone's drink with a straw, since they do that in the medical field!.

For the cake, I would do a big sheet cake and make it a big medicare card!. LOL Have the baker copy the medicare card with his name, (not all his information, you don't want that given out to a bakery or anyone else), but have his name and birthday, and let them make up the rest!. It will be really cute when the cake comes and it's a giant medicare card with his name and birthday on it! LOL

I hope some of these ideas help and that you have a great party and that your dad has a very Happy Birthday!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds like a blast!. Get a copy of his medicare card- blow it - big poster of this!. Next to it display a cute photo of him with something like "I finally get free health care"!. Maybe a walker, cane or wheel chair next to the medicare card as well!. Another idea have a few people dress in lab coats with stethoscope!. How about a top ten list like David Letterman does everynight!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wow! I want to go!

At Spencers in the mall they have all kinds of "pill" bottles!.!.!. you could get him one of those, or a few since he is covered by medicare!.
Sounds like it will be a great time with all your ideas!Www@FoodAQ@Com

TRY DOING THINGS HE LIKES!.!.IM NOT SURE WAT THE WHOLE MEDICARE MEANS BUT AT HIS AGE, WELL DO THINGS HE REALLY ENJOYS!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How fun! Dad sounds like a real "kick" too, so don't be surprised if you see HIM on that slide too! !.!.!.!. You HAVE to get a copy of the Beatles' "Will you still love me, when I'm 64"! (how scary that they recorded that when they were in their 20's, and are beyond 64 now!) !.!.!. If there's a medical supply place near you, maybe you could use the plastic disposable kidney-shaped dishes that are always on the bedside table in hospitals to put nuts, chips & jelly bellies in!.!.!.!. and a metal bedpan (new, of course - lol) with ice & bottles of wine coolers/beer) !.!.!.!.!. Maybe his chair at the table could be a walker, that has a seat on it:) !.!.!.!. You can fill old prescription bottles (take the labels off) with jelly bellies- for either favors, or put the guests names on them for placecards!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
