Idea's for my son's 1st birthday party?
I don't wanna do one of the kiddie...winnie the pooh Sesame Street....type themes for my son's birthday. Does anyone have an idea for a party theme? We are having it in the club house of our friends condo complex right next to the pool. The club house is kinda big and i want t to feel decorated. Not over the top but not bare either.....any suggestions?

i am having the same problem! my daughter will be one in Sept. and every one is telling me not to worry.. she wont remember, but i will and i want pictures to celebrate the fact that she is one ! its more of a big deal for the parents and relatives this i know... but she will look back at her baby book and see how much she was loved by people who might not be around when she grows up.... i am doing a princess theme.. or maybe a Disney princess theme... but i like the luau idea.... and maybe Hawaiian , tiki, maybe beach theme... gets lots of beach balls....
yes he wont remember it.. but you will and that's what matters for now.. i wish you luck and happy b day to your little one!
How about a luau? Hawaiian beach themed... Good luck!
basic party decorations for any age if you want it to feel
kinda relaxing
I would'nt go to all out yet he's only one and he won't remember much of it over time....cake and ice cream and then go home and play!
luau or the movie cars for i boy
I did the same thing for my daughter's first birthday party. I went with a color theme. It ended up being really nice. Because her birthday is on 7/15 all of the 4th stuff was on sale so I went with red.
Of course I bought a few balloons, but I also bought some flowers. I bought a ton of red food that we used for decorations on the tables but also people noshed on them. Apples, cherries, sweedish fish, cherry tomatoes sliced red peppers with dip, strawberries, chips and salsa, tandoori chicken skewers (I bought these), etc. I don't remember them all. We did this instead of having a ton of appetizers on a table or bar.
For a meal I kept it really basic for my own piece of mind, there ended up being about 50 people there. I began cooking about a week ahead of time, it's really not as bad as you think.
The weekend before I made a large tray of mini meat balls and sliced chicken sausage. I froze this ahead of time. The following Thursday I took them out and put them in the fridge to defrost. On Wednesday made two crockpots full of sauce and just kept this in the fridge. The night before I cooked up I think it was three boxes of ziti put it in two pans. One I just tossed with a little olive oil, the other I tossed with some of the sauce and topped with mozz cheese. I took a cheat from my favorite restaurant and bought a tray of eggplant rolatini. Once I got there all I needed to to was heat things up, throw together a tossed salad and cut some bread. For dessert we had red velvet birthday cake.
For the kids I made a red punch for the adults a red sangria.
It was a lot of fun, pretty easy and it had a theme without being over the top.
