Question:

Mafia themed 21st Birthday party?

I am planning on having a 1920-1930/Al Capone mafia themed birthday party... and is quite a big deal coz its my 21st... i know about what they wore and how there hair was, but any prop ideas (eg. body outlines on the floor etc) and invitation ideas would be really appreciated!!!!
i'm mainly struggling with the invitations and how i should word them.

Answers:
Look up Speakeasy and "roaring 20's" - for some good ideas.

Watch the movie "some like it hot" for good decorating ideas - as well as The jazz singer and maybe some silents if you can to get some good ideas.

Play old jazz from the 1920's - Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbeck (the Wolverines) Jack Teigardten, Benny Goodman, Joe Venuti & Eddy Lang - guys like that.

Give yourself a nickname - Bugsy, or The Duke, or the King or something like that -

Problem is, most invitations were extended by word of mouth - with a password since prohibition was in full force at the time.

My grandmother was a washington DC socialite in the 1920's - I grew up with this stuff.

hahhahahahahhahahahahahah greatttttt idea

Well, the mob used to run most casinos.... running guns... evading fibbies... Also, the big mobs were Irish and Italian, and they're both Catholic - stuff like crucifixes on the wall.

FBI most wanted invitations? I don't know, sounds like fun though - hope you have a good time!

Make sure you put cotton in your mouth like Don Corleone in The Godfather

you gotta line the entryway wif plastic tarp, black rose with all invites, set up a code for invite, than send code meaning (letters for numbas)..and what da hell, get a horse, you know the rest
