I need some good ideas / themes for a Dinner Party I'm hosting.
We have previously done a magic evening whereby each guest presents 2 magic tricks and we have done a IPOD evening whereby each guest selects their 5 favourite songs which are then randomly played and the other guests have to identify the artist, name and who selected the track.
Now its my turn !!! Help...

I think a Mexican night or Italian, etc... And you could each learn a phrase in that language and teach each other how to say it. Then you could make the food according to the theme. An even dress for the theme. Party city can also help with decor.

Have Fun!
why not try a murder mystery night, you can buy the game of the internet and you all get given a character and you have to dress up as them, and you can have a good drink

Period theme. All to dress up in a period of time whcih you choose.
You should do one of those "Murder mystery Games"
Everyone gets to be a character and they have to dress the part. It's fun, try it.
Or you could have a cocktail party where each guest brings a recipe and makings for a cocktail. A bit expensive but a great fun night.
Well if its a dinner party, the serving of food would be a good idea; to be washed down with plenty of alcohol so that people don't realize how good or bad things are!
Have a murder mystery based on dvd Clue or I think there are games based on Murder Mysteries out there. Guests come and are assigned an identity or given one beforehand when they accept the invitation.
Or you could have a dinner party on bone china and ask people to donate to say osteoporosis, the Canadian Osteoporosis society does as does the Canadian Cancer Society and they call it cooking for a cure.
I think around this time of year when food banks are low , have people bring non perishables to put in a basket and then you bring it to your local food bank as a group donation.
Something like that, you have a great meal and take care so that others will at least have a meal.
just make great finger food, a cake ect... and finish up with a drinking game? or for a theme tell everyone to dress up as a fav character. not sure as havnt been in that suituation! good luck...
horror themed dinner party, you could have vampire, witch costumes etc with creepy music and horror movies on during dinner.
At one of the best dinner parties I've been to we played Cranium, a board game where teams move around a board completing tasks in a 'give us a clue style'. You make play dough models, hum songs, draw pictures or act something out. With plenty of wine and some finger food its a great laugh.
Do an 80's themed night complete with the clothes, music, and food that was popular in the 80's like chips and dip and guacamole.
Fur and feathers, although you'll have to come up with the games to play!!!
there's one where you select books at random from your bookshelf, read out the first paragraph of the first chapter then all the guests have to write what the next paragraph would be (you can be as realistic or as silly as you like) - the person who reads out the real first para writes down the real second para. You then read out all the 2nd paras and guess which was the real one, you get a point if you guess the right one but you get two points if your made up para fools any of the guests. It's great fun - honest
How about having a Celeb evening where all your guests and you dress as Celebs of their choice and have to keep in character for the duration.
Another idea is a "Bush tucker" evening where all the food is Grasshoppers, chocolate ants, Widgety grubs etc(If you can stomach it that is) I've done it and believe me if there's enough drink most people will try it!!LOL
Horror theme..since Halloween's round the corner..or you could have the "Fairies n Elves' theme..
if your a wine drinker you can have everyone bring their favorite bottle of wine and have them do the taste test of which kind is their favorite.
we've done the usual mardi gras and luau party but I think my favorite whas the carnival party. We made silly games like the bean bag toss and goldfish game(no real goldfish though) ect. We made "carnival" foods. It's great to see adults remember the fun stuff of being a child.
have everyone bring their favorite alcholic drink, with enough of the ingredients to share.
Karoake is always fun.
Game nights would be fun - have some fun traditional board games, dice games, gambling games.
Casino Royale would be fun - use green felt for the table cloth, scatter poker chips and playing cards and dice along the table.
Then playing poker, pokeno, roulette, craps afterwards. Give each guest a little bag full of say 20-50 poker chips. Whoever has the most chips at the end of the night wins a prize, and also whoever has the least chips wins a consolation prize.
