Baby Food Prob.?!

Question:

Baby Food Prob.?

my 2 yr old sister will eat ketchup at every single meal ( if she does not get it she throws a fit and when she gets it she we have to make eat otherwise she juss licks off the ketchup and re dips). and for a snack she eats slices of turkey w/ spicy mustard( i eat that w/ her) tell me how to get her to stop. DO NOT tell me to stop giving to her cause i tried.

Answers:
Listen, she's 2 years old. All two year olds do this. Six months from now, ketchup will be "yucky". Just keep offering her real food - and make a big show of what you eat. Little kids LOVE to imitate - especially idolized older siblings! She'll outgrow this, I promise.

I would try a good for you dipping sauce

you may have to incorporate different flavors to her just so that she can get away from that one. I would say try ranch dressing or maybe honey mustard.

Giving her many options may pull her away from it.

maybe before you give it to her you can squeeze in some lemon jucice
of put in a packet of kool-aid so that the ketchup will taste funny to her and she won't like it any more

What is wrong with your sister eating a bit of ketchup or turkey with spicy mustard?

Children can be finicky eaters. If a little ketchup or mustard gets her to eat, let her do it. She will probably grow out of this phase. I would let her be. Better yet, let your parents worry about it.

the only thing I can think of is to wean her off it gradually, by adding a LITTLE LESS all the time!!

eating ketchup is pretty normal and so is using the one chip to dip but they grow out of it and why bother trying to stop her they eat what they want to at 2 years of age and turkey with spicey mustard wont hurt my daughter has a savoury palate and at four she will ask for suschi but only drink the soya sauce and loves mint sauce with everything and she hates sweet things so i just let her have what ever she wants. she loves pepper sauce as well.

ya try putting something in it and she wont like it anymore... i didnt think ketchup was that bad for you. There are a lot worse things that she could be eating!

put some strawberry sauce in the bottle in stead of ketchup and whe she says it is not ketchup but srawbery sauce show her the bottel and make her conferm that it is ketchup and she wont like 2 have ketchup any more

I don't understand what the problem is. All 2 year olds are like this. I have a few suggestions, first if you concerned about the sodium, sugar, preservatives, etc. go to a healthfood store and get an organic one. I believe Heinz even sells and organic ketchup now. Second if she is not eating then toss her food in the ketchup before you give her the plate.

Truthfully, this is a very natural act for two year olds. Eating for a 2 year old is not just about nutrition, it's also about hand eye coordination and them learning that they have control of their being. If you have concerns about her nutrition speak to her pediatrician, they will be able to suggest a vitamin. She probably won't need it though. You would be surprised how little a two year old needs to eat to be nutritionally sound.
