Answers:
Do you have to make it? If not, you could always go to your local grocery store deli and order one for you.

If you want/need to make it here are a few ideas:

cheese & crackers/pepperoni
friuit and cheese
different fruits
vegetable platter/ex...peppers, carrots, mushrooms, celery...etc.
meat platter...ham/bologna/turkey/s... with rolls
cheese and grapes
finger roll platter/tuna/chicken salad/egg salad/ ham salad
tortillas and salsa

There is a dip I love to make for parties...I use a pie plate, and in the bottom I spread out a box of cream cheese, next I put a jar of salsa, then I use a package (almost all of it, depending on your taste) mozzerella cheese, and then heat it up in the microwave just before it is to be eaten, and I serve it with tortilla chips

You could also do a bread bowl with dip in the middle.

Good luck!

never been to one but i would say cold cuts, sausage rolls, wraps, anything like that

depending on how much you want to spend, you can have your local greocery store make you one. they usually need 24 hour notice. it could be a fruit platter(which is good for this time of year) or it clould be a cold cut platter. another good one is a veggie platter. those go over real well.
good luck;)) o, almost forgot....they have premade ones too!

cold cuts and cheese are always nice and if you want you can place mini rolls and condiments next to the platter and people can assemble themselves, or you can make a fruit platter with bite size fruit (whatever is at your market- melons, grapes, etc), you can also do a dessert platter with mini cookies and cut up brownies, or a try of warm appetizers like mini pigs in a blanket

When I go to parties or events, I always bring my own homemade cheeseball. Its absolutely deliscious and very unique. You mix one package of Ranch Santa Fe seasoning (its in your grocery isle where the salad dressings are), with two packages of cream cheese, 1/3 cup of bacon bits, 1/2 onion chopped up, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix it all together and form in the shape of a ball. Put in on a plate and spread crackers out around it. This cheeseball is zesty and full of flavor. Everyone I know that has eaten it LOVED it!

How about a platter of mini rollups. You simply take burrito shells and smear them with cream cheese, ham or turkey, top with American or Swiss cheese role them up and slice them into little pinwheels. There are many variations. You can do a veggie one with spinach and waterchestnuts, or sausa and refriend beans. Make a bunch of different types. People love them.

This totally depends upon what sort of food - you should maybe call and ask the organizer. This could be a fruit platter, with various fruits cut up and a nice, light dip (whipped cream and yogurt); veggie platter with dip (dill is always nice); sandwich platter - with various fancy, dainty sandwiches, or wraps, cut in small pieces; or an appetizer platter, which would have things like mini eggrolls, wings, dry ribs, etc..; coldcuts platter - with a variety of coldcuts, cheeses and pickles.
You also should know how many your platter should be serving...

What kind do you want to provide?
Sandwhiches? Go to tthe deli and buy thinly sliced cheeses asst, buy some different kinds of meat as well. Buy some mayo and some mustard, some baby dill pickels, and a can of olives a loaf of bread, and some frilled toothpicks.make regular sandwhiches, trim off he crusts. You can buy a regular platter with lid at Albertsons from the deli, ( I've done this) Cut them into half and then into fourths. Cut some of them on the diagonal and then diagonal again. Arrange them on a plate with the dills and olives as garnishment as well.

Try a fruit platter? Mix a tub of cream cheese with 1/2 a tub of cool whip and 1/3 cup of real jam. Mix the other tub with 1/2 a cup of brown sugarand a splash of vanilla. Buy a whole cantaloupe cut in half then half again and make slices, two bunches of grapes seperate into small bunches , navel oranges ( slice these as rounds they'll look pretty) buy whatever berries that are on sale. If you toss apples in a lil lemon juice they stay bright. You can also add pears. Arrange nicely with dips in the middle.
Veggie platter same idea, slice and dice cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, carrots, califlower, broccoli, serve with a hot spinach dip for a new twist and add melba toasts or tortilla chips. That's all I can think of right now. Let me kneo if you need more help!!

here is the easiest thing you can do. Go to the store, get mini bagels and cream cheese and arrange on the plate.
if you want fancy, get some smoked salmon.
