Slumber party? a little long, but please read?!

Question:

Slumber party? a little long, but please read?

Hello! my daughter is having a slumber party tonight. She has one every year for her birthday and then one during the school year. Some of the girls love it so much they come up to me at her school or even in the store, asking when the next one will be. I usually throw one mean party for her. In the past, the girls have hunted for treasures, went to beauty school, had movies and video game night, cooking school night, pet store night, etc.
Anyway, I am out of ideas! I want her and her friends to have a blast, they are 11 this year, and I don't want them to think of me as an uncool mom. Any ideas?

ok, seriously here, I am not trying to be a psychologist tonight. I do that with my own kids at the dinner table, not with a bunch of other peoples kids. I just want good ideas so my daughter can have a fun evening.

What about a "Costume Night" where they come dressed up and you can be the judge of the best costume. It could be themed too if you wanted (ex. Hawaiian, Toga Party, Princess, or themed after a movie that they like).

When I was a kid I remember a party where we played a lot of games that were fun and we had prizes. Of course there's the one where you run around a table and when the music stops you must get one of the chairs.

You can wrap a gift in many boxes/layers and have them pass it around the circle. Every time the music stops, the person holding the package gets to unwrap one layer. You can insert prizes in every second layer.

We had a bubble gum contest (whoever could make the biggest bubble).

Hope this helped. You sound like a cool mom.

laser quest, rock climbing, abseiling, water fights (if weather is good) games in the back garden. complete makeover. do something active theyre the best parties

Priness them party

How about a ''trawl the town and see what you become if you don't study hard'' night.

Just a thought.

Pillow fight night?? or pirate night or even mabe active night???

ps im about 15 and i dont know much about rasing kidz

TRIVIA GAMES, GET THEM TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT ANYTHING INTERESTING, AND GIVE PRIZES TO THE HIGHEST SCORERS AND THE LOWEST SCORER TOO, JEWELLERY MAKING OUT OF BEADS, COLOURING IN COMPETITION,
U SOUND AWESOME, MY DAUGHTER IS 10 AND ITS A LOT OF PRESSURE TO TRY AND B A COOL MUM TOO, I DO MY BEST,
U HAVE ALREADY DONE SOME GREAT IDEAS,

c'mon 11 laser tag night, or get some water fight gear(balloons, super soakers, the ones with ice in them are fun lol) and let'm tire themselves out at that age getting exhausted is the most fun nights

Get a couple tents.... take them camping. You in one and them in their own.

Worked GREAT for my kids.... and their friends, who are now all adults, still stop by or running into us at the store and reminicing about when they were young and got to go camping with us.

They have all said that it is the best memories of their lives!

You seem like a cool mom, but are you trying too hard to be so??? Anyway- aside from fun make the time together a positive reinforcement time as well. They are getting to be teens soon and you want to make sure they don't succumb to teen issues. Some ideas would be open discussion time- I have this game I boughgtf rom a Christan website (Focus on Family) called The Ungame-- there is no winner it just has game cards with questions to start a conversation/debate with kids & teens. You'd be surprised some of the answers kids give when you think you know your kids better than anyone. My son is 15 and I swear I can't get him to open up about anything going on in his head-- but he does provide some insight when we play this game. Since you have their attention already use it to guide and direct

On the lighter side...princess night with tiaras and boas, maybe even a Prince charming visit (the Cinderella ball and he's bring the slipper for them to try on)
Spa night- facials,pedi & manicures
American Idol auditions and then genre changes (country - disco- motown) all you need is a karaoke machine or America's Next Top Model complete with photo shoot books they take home (Polaroids or Digital prints)

Good luck

Have a little spa day...you can do home facials, and manicures and pedicures. Ands erve them little finger foods while they are relaxing.

Dance Party!

You could have a dance contest.

Play Stop-Go with music - when the music stops they have to freeze in whatever position they are in or they are out.

Musical Chairs.

Karoke.

Teach them a simple dance routine.

You can do crafts..journals, frames,etc
or how about an americal idol party..you can do kaeroke(sp?)

Honestly me daughter is this age and you don't need too much...throw in some pizza, chips and movies and they will be fine.

Go to a beauty school and get make-overs. Afterwards, go out to lunch. My mom did this for my 11th birthday. It was a blast.
