Im arranging a poker themed birthday party, what food and music?
Its not until January so i have plenty of time!
i have booked a posh location, I will get the guests to wear tux's and dresses, encourage them to drink champagne and cocktails. I hope to have a roulette table. But what else?
What music would be best? What food, if any? Please help!

I ONCE ATTENDED A GREAT POKER PARTY, THE FOOD WAS ALL FOUND ON THE FOOD TV NETWORK, AND THEY HAD SOME REALLY COOL FINGER FOODS AND FESTIVE DRINKS, CHECK THERE FOR IDEAS. THEY USUALLY HAVE AN ABOUNDENCE OF GOOD FOOD IDEAS. AND FOR THE MUSIC A MUST IS GOOD OL FRANK SINATRA..
I would suggest low background music, so as not to distract players, not necessarily classical but neutral. Food, finger food, cold buffet, so people can snack between hands and plenty of alcohol. I'm doing this for my birthday in June, hope yours goes well.
Definitely fancy sandwiches. (After all, the Earl of Sandwich was playing cards when the sandwich was invented according to lore!) Lots of hors d'oerves too. For music I'd go with Sinatra/Rat Pack music. Any of the crooners from the 60's. Sounds like a fun party!
Have the cake made to look like 2 playing cards and use poker chips to sprinkle out on the tables like confetti. Go with red and black colors to decorate. Pick up a few of those BIG dice that some people use to hang from thier rear view mirror to set out on the tables or to decorate with. ( can be found at The Dollar General stores, Walmart or Auto Zone) Do ya have one of those big rugs that people hang on the wall with the dogs playing cards??? Sounds like fun!

Definately finger foods, like cheese stacks on toothpicks, with olives, pepperoni, sausages, etc.
jazz, baby! keep it mellow. serve finger food that doesnt leave a mess so that people can play and eat, bite size things that dont need cutting or forks
Hmm. Ifyou are going to encourage them to drink and play poker, you should separate the two activities.
Perhaps a direction sign " Liquor in the front, poker in the rear" would be useful?
