I recently graduated, had my own party, attended countless others, and I think I can answer all your questions!.!.!.
Graduation parties are whatever you want them to be!. All the ones I attended were very casual backyard barbecue type parties!. There was an even amount of family and friends (both adult and young adult) and even a few teachers!. Don't worry, the different crowds will mesh well together!. The biggest party had no more than 60 people, so nothing overwhelmingly huge!. For my party we covered my backyard in tents and chairs and people naturally sat with people they knew!. As the hostess, you should go from table to table mingling with all your guests!.
For the most part, graduation parties are extremely casual and unstructured!. People get food and drinks then sit around munching and chit chatting!. There is often a table with a card box for gifts and maybe a few pictures of the graduate!. In my opinion, the simpler the party the better!. I went to one where we were forced to play games and it was not enjoyable!. Leave your party mostly unscheduled and just make sure there is enough food and seating!. There doesn't need to be dancing, people will have a nice time just relaxing!.
Tip #1: When in doubt, invite the person
If you can't decide whether or not to invite your fourth cousin Harry, just do it!. Usually every guests brings you a card with money!. So for selfish reasons, the more people the better!. Plus with more guests the party will be more enjoyable for you and less awkward for your guests!.
Tip #2: Wear something nice, but comfortable
If your mother is anything like mine she will want a picture with you and every single one of your guests, so it's important to look presentable!. But remember you will be racing around greeting, hugging, and eating so keep it simple
Tip #3: Don't procrastinate on your thank you notes
Your wedding and your high school graduation are the times when it is most important to thank people for their gifts!. Write them immediately and you will feel much better!.
Tip #4: Have fun!
You have your whole future ahead of you and everyone has come together to celebrate that with you!. Just remember to smile and have a great time!.
Good luck with your senior year and your party!Www@FoodAQ@Com

At all the graduation parties I have been to, you just stand around and socialize(not really an event or a dance party) and they have food, usually buffet style!.
It is a low key social event, because there will be a lot of adults as well as teens!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are making you!?
A graduation party is like any other party!. The basics are people, food and music and every thing else depends on the people involved!. People are not going to dance and party hard if that's not the kind of party it is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Both of my daughters graduated in morning ceremonies !.!.!. and their dad had a nice, catered brunch for them (on the water, Lido Isle) !.!.!. low-key and relaxingWww@FoodAQ@Com
graduation parties are kind of big, but they are not like huge dance parties!. they are more of an "open house" type thing!. everyone is welcome, and there is not many set activities and times set up!. its more like the party is from 2-8 and show up whenever, and you dont have to stay the entire time!.
they are not dance parties, its just set up a bunch of tables and chairs and a bunch of different foods, and let people socialize with eachother!. Music is a good thing, but not like dance parties!.
Relatives and friends are normally invited along with classmates, its a huge mix of people!.
trust me, you want to have a grad party, you normally get money from relatives and its a great time to socialize for the last time with classmates before you all go your separate ways!.!.
i am having mine and my brothers in a week, and i cant wait!Www@FoodAQ@Com
