How should i decorate a birthday cake?!

Question:

How should i decorate a birthday cake?

I am 15 and making a birthday cake for my friend who will be 15 as well. shes a girl and i want to make it look and taste great. its a plain sponge cake and i want to decorate the top...ideas please!!

Answers:
A real easy way to decorate the top is to DUST or STENCIL a pattern. (Purchase a package of paper or foil 8" round lace doilies to use as a stencil) Lightly sprinkle sifted confectioner's sugar or cocoa powder on the top of a cake using doilie to create a pattern, when removed.

Buy Neon! food colors by Mccormick and decorating bags with several different tips (they're not hard to use, if you can draw, you can decorate with tips!). Next, draw different designs flowers, butterflies, anything! Just make sure to put a plain layer of frosting on the cake first, before you decoarteit. Good luck!

It all depends on what she likes. But definitely put frosting on. Personally, frosting is my favorite part of the cake. But I would definitely buy neon colored icing. I know all my friends love that. I'd also look into the option of buying a bag of her favorite candy and maybe spelling out a message in it. It's really sweet that you're making a cake for your friend. I hope this helps and I hope she likes the cake, with whichever design you so choose!

Berries (Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, etc) and whipped cream 'frosting'.

Balloon Cake

A sheet cake with iced cookies is an easy and quick way to decorate.
Parental supervision is recommended.

This project is rated VERY EASY to do.

What You Need

Baked sheet cake
Vanilla frosting
Food Coloring
Couple of small bowls
Knives or small spatulas (for spreading frosting)
Icing in a tube or licorice strings (for balloon strings)
Round baked cookies (sugar or Snickerdoodles work great)

How To Make It

Frost your baked and cooled sheet cake with vanilla frosting.
Put a very small amount of frosting in a bowl. Add food coloring, mixing as you add, to obtain the desired shade. Repeat in additional bowls for each balloon color you wish to create.
Frost the cookies and add to the cake (see photo).
Use licorice strings or icing in a tube to create strings for the balloons.

You could make frosting ( its cheaper to do it,I think)..and make the colors you want...
Then you could write
HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY (friends name)..
And then you could add candy But I think candy messes it up unless you eat it the day you make it!

you could make it look like a box from movie popcorn. make the red and white vertical stripes then pop real popcorn and put it at the top so it looks like the box of popcorn is full. you can even have some spilling over the side. I have done this and its adorable. I have also done one that looks like a crayon box . for a pre teen . The saying on that one was . " from crayons to lipstick." Your friend is a little old for that one but the popcorn one would work.

With HASH

Use whipped cream flavored with sugar and vanilla...use a half pint of heavy cream....use a hand mixer add a half teaspoon of vanilla and about a quarter cup of sugar...mix until whip cream.

Spread on your cake and add fresh berries and kiwi....

You can frost the cake with Cool Whip and then top with beautiful ripe strawberries that have been dipped in chocolate. YUM!

All major supermarkets sellready made icing and sugar figures these days.
Choose a theme to suit your friend and go see what they have.
EG I made a pink cake with pink pigs and I added plastic fences. Another time I made a green one with frogs and sugar flowers.

take 1 pkg cream cheese 3 tbsp. brown sugar 1/8 cup milk or your favorite juice spread on sponge cake top with fresh fruit & colored miniature marshmellowsof your choice

I'm not usually a fan of sponge cakes, but try this! Use strawberry frosting if she's a girly girl and use those candy hearts that has words on them. (Use as a border) Use jelly lips and marshmallow flowers. Draw a picture of a cupcake in that coloured, clear gel stuff thats edible and comes out of a tube. It will be perfect for a 15th birthday!!!

Don't put "15" on it.
She is bound to think she is much older!

Depends what she likes...maybe 15 in some kind of fancy icing?
