Birthday party entertainment ideas??!

Question: Birthday party entertainment ideas!?!?
My sister, who is 12, is having a birthday party in the middle of June!.
Our parents made her have it at our small apartment
(^ that made her cancel her THIRD birthday party plan)
She has no idea on who to invite because half of her friends live pretty far (so, for example, if she invites 10 people, then about 6 of them will actually come)!.
The problem is that, our family is also celebrating our grandmother's 1 year death aniversary, our parents aniversary, Father's Day and my sister's birthday!. In other words, there will be many adults there!.
The only enterainment we have is the Nitendo Wii, karaoke (but none of her friends like singing in front of more than 5 adults) and going to the park!.

Please help!! Any ideas on entertainment for 6-14 year olds
ps-it's her first boy-girl partyWww@FoodAQ@Com

Wow, that's a lot going on!

I have to agree with the other poster, is there a room that can be cleared out or designated as the party room and you be the chaperone if your parents aren't happy about them being in a room alone being it's a boy/girl party!? This way they can at least be a little noisy and have some fun without disturbing your family that will be at your house!.

They can pick a movie and watch a movie!. You can go to Blockbuster and get each person a cardboard popcorn bucket and then some of the big boxes of movie candy!. Then at movie time, each guests gets their own bucket of popcorn and they all share and pass around the candy!. She can talk to her friends ahead of time and decide on what movie they would all like to rent and have it ready when everyone comes over!. Then when the movie's over they can eat, and hang out, etc!.

She can also, no matter what party she does, set up an ice cream bar!. Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream with some toppings!. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherries and everyone can make their own sundaes!. You can get the waffle cone bowls at the grocery store!.

They can play games like Twister, charades, Pictionary, Scattegories and have a game themed birthday party!. Everyone can bring their favorite board game, or she can do the interactive games like the charades, twister, etc!.

If you're going to the park, there's LOTS you can do there! You can take a big blanket for everyone to hang out on, and pack up food for everyone!. Let the Birthday girl decide what food to bring, if her favorite food is pizza, bring a pizza lunch, if it's fried chicken get some KFC and bring it to the park, you can even bring deli sandwiches and find out ahead of time what everyone's favorites are, and bring a cooler with ice and drinks!. Then you can pack some music, a frisbee and let her have fun at the park with her friends!. You can also set up a volleyball net there and let them play badmitten and vollleyball!. They can also do potato sack races, three legged races, etc!. You can have a pie eating contest, but instead of pie, fill the tins with whipped cream and whoever finishes first, wins!. etc!. There's LOTS they can do at the park!. Then you can all back to the apartment for the cake and ice cream or do it at the park this way the adults are not bothered at all!.

I hope some of these ideas help and that your sister has a great party and a very Happy Birthday!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know this sounds like a lot of work, but I would set up a separate area for them!. Maybe you could empty out a bedroom or den for them!. Then their music, laughter, games, etc!. won't bother you!.

Second, how about dropping them off at the town pool or lake, something like that with a picnik, radio, towels!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It may sound kind of lame, but some "Board games" can be good for that sort of thing (Jenga, uno!.!.!. fun, not overly complicated)!. If your apartment is anything like mine, I'd stay away from a pinata at all costs!.!.!. If you're taking the party outside, frisbee can be fun!. One interesting spin on that is to have a "host" throwing the frizbees and play similar to "500" with associated prize party favors (little basket full of cheap colorful toys)!. Instead of baseing it on actual athletic/catching skill, you'll want to rig it so everyone gets a prize party favor basket and you know which frizbees actually win something (mark it/them) It's a good way of occupying several kids for up to three hours with about 6 frizbees and little baskets full of cheap colorful toys!. one that can also save you some money, have the kids decorate the birthday cake at the party!. I've seen that done, and it normally saves you money!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
