You still will be chaotic, choose, chicken liver pate with toast, can do in advance, Lasagne, with salad (done in advance, ) Chocolate cake with cream or ice cream (done in advance) Loads of wine and cheese a with biscuits and grapes. Enjoy yourself you deserve it moving house is the worst thing!!!

make pasta that way its cheap because u just bought a bigger house and every penny counts
here try:
thanksgiving dish because thats thanks giving and all
buy a turkey in the grocery store that is done for you in the rotisserarie isle usually by deli department so by then all u do is reheat plus its very good for you and taste delicious.
make garlic mashed potatoes
a vege like broccoli steamed and cream corn in a can
try biscuits like in the frozen isle thats done for you like philsbury and make stove top stuffing and cranberry sauce in a can
and for desert a apple pie or pumpkin or even better homemade sweet potato pie

You never said what sort of budget you were on but for ease i would suggest a soup ....pumpkin,potato and leek many sorts but light for a 3 course meal is good and a small bowl. Mains again for ease you could cook a roast meat pre slice and have warm in the oven sliced thinly and make sure it has a little water to keep moist and covered with alfoil.I par cook vegetables into a large bowl bright veg such as cauliflower, broccoli, carrot, beans, allow to cool and pop on a few dobs of butter cover with gladwrap and reheat in microwave when needed.Roast potatoes can be par boiled and finished off in a deep fryer...gravy pre-made. Pop it all on the table and allow them to serve themselves.By the time they have got through that a cheese an greens platter should be enough to finish off with with a variety of cheeses, carrot sticks celery sticks, strawberries crackers ,pate etc which can be all pre prepared. Good Luck

...you DO realize that is Thanksgiving Day, right? Hopefully you're not in the US or you wont' get movers.

If you just moved in, you want to make something fun. Don't go too fancy, make something that seems cool, but isn't difficult to make.

Starter: Chinese Chicken Salad
Salad, romaine leaves, grilled chicken, peanuts, cucumbers, crunchy chow mein noodles, and hoison sauce. and/or
Shrimp Kabob Rolls,
Grilled and/or fried shrimp, squeeze lemon on it, small slices of tomatoes, and roll in lettuce, and make or buy a ranch dipping sauce.

I'm not a main dish person, but what about pasta or lasagna?

Desert: Order, or you can make (if you're good at making cookies) a Bazookie (I'm not sure that's how you spell it) Choose 3 or 4 different flavors of cookies, macadamian nut, chocolate chip, brownie, sugar, pumpkin spice, what ever pleases the crowd. Then add vanilla bean ice cream on each Bazookie, and afterwards make coffee.

starter-stuffed jalapenos(cheese, diced tomatoes and diced onions) and black bean salsa with tortillas

main- marinated chicken, (marinate in 1/2 cup of hot sauce, 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce, garlic, black pepper, parsley flakes and cayenne pepper) served with mixed vegetables, chive mashed potatoes and garlic bread.

dessert-cherry pie or cheesecake

Divine Chocolate

Put 2 bars of 80% cocoa Lindt chocolate in a blender and blend. Leave the blender on and pour on one pint of double cream which has been warmed in a saucepan (not boiled). Quickly add one egg yolk.

Pour into smallish glasses and leave to set in the fridge.

If you want you can have a layer of raspberry coulis in the bottom of the glass, or Greek yogurt, or add some alcohol to the chocolate mixture.

Your going to be exhausted, why not relax and let somebody else do the work! Get a selection of take out menus, form different types of restuarants eg chinese, indian, Thai... Pass them round when your guest arrive and order in!
