Hookah Music?!
Hookah Music?
As hookah smokers know the atmosphere is big in smoking. I am going to get my first hookah and I would like some suggestions as to what kind of music would go good with the hookah atmosphere. Of course there is stuff like Pink Floyd and The Doors, but I am curious about more world music/middle eastern/indian music that would go well in such a setting. Any song suggestions would be great.

I guess the obvious answer would be some Ravi Shankar. He's the most well known sitarist for Western audiences and if you're going to go the Indian route, he's a sure bet. There's also some Indian-Western fusion that I think would go well with hookah. Try to find the album "Good People in Times of Evil" by Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane. It's great. The local hookah club plays a lot of trance music so if you want a more party atmosphere, go that way. I recommend Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, or Infected Mushroom.
