Answers:
a good choice to start with is Bruschetta it is like an italian version of toast and it is real easy.
Bruschetta
1 narrow Italian or French loaf of bread
1 head garlic, cut in 1/2 crosswise
2 tablespoons olive oil
salt and pepper

Preheat oven on broiler setting. Place a rack approximately 6 inches from broiler.
Slice the loaf of bread, on the bias, into 3/4-inch slices. Place bread in oven on sheet pan and broil until golden brown on both sides, approximately 2 minutes for the first side and 1 to 1 1/2 for second side. Remove to a platter and rub each slice of bread with the garlic and then brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

a good dessert is tiramisu to fit the italian theme this is my recipe for it it is real easy and everyone thinks it is awesome

tiramisu
8 cream-filled sponge cakes (recommended: Twinkies)
1 cup espresso or strong coffee, unsweetened
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1/3 cup sugar
2 (8 3/4-ounce) packages mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
Yellow food coloring
10 vanilla wafers

Cut the sponge cakes in half lengthwise and fit the bottom halves into a 7 by 11-inch pan. Drizzle half the coffee over them.
Whip the cream to soft peaks and sweeten it with the sugar. Whisk the mascarpone cheese a bit to loosen it and fold in the whipped cream. Pour half of this mixture over the sponge cakes and spread it out evenly. Make another layer with the tops of the sponge cakes and drizzle them with the remaining coffee. Mix about 10 drops of food coloring into the remaining cream mixture, enough to make it the same yellow color as the sponge cakes. Spread this evenly over the sponge cakes. Coarsely crush the vanilla wafers and scatter them over the top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

take Caprese( mozzarella with tomato and Basil)
and tiramasu for desert..
bon a petit..

chesese stick garlic bread

Ok...you have an italian entree, so I'd go italian on the dinner. Instead of an appetizer, go with an antipasto platter (if the guests are adults) or perhaps a bruschetta (if the guests are teens). Offer italian bread and a salad. For desert, also go italian....purchase a tiramasu. If you want to make desert yourself and want something really impressive, I make a Cherry Zabaglione Tart. Here is the recipe:

Zabaglione:
3 egg yolks
1/4 cup sugar
3 TB. Marsala
1/2 cup whipping cream
3 TB. mascarpone or sour cream
Tart:
9-inch ready-made graham cracker or vanilla cookie pie crust
1-1/2 cups pitted fresh cherries
3 TB. grated dark chocolate
To make zabaglione:
Put the egg yolks and sugar in the top section of a double boiler over simmering water.
Whip the mixture with a whisk for 3-4 minutes, until it is creamy and yellow.
Stir in the Marsala.
Continue whisking until the mixture begins to foam and swell in volume, 6-8 minutes.
Zabaglione is ready when it stands in soft peaks.
Remove from heat and set the top section of the double boiler over a bowl of ice water.
Allow to cool.
With an electric mixer, beat the whipping cream and mascarpone until stiff.
Fold in the zabaglione. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled.
To make tart:
Arrange cherries in prepared pie crust. Spoon zabaglione mixture over. Smooth top.
Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
When ready to serve, sprinkle top with grated chocolate.

first have a great time appetiser some shrimp glazed with butter dessert a piece of cake with some ice cream way be angel cake and vanilla so not to stain clothes

appatizers you can go for simple things like stuffed olives, or fresh veggies with dip.

Cannoli would be good for dessert you can get the shells at an italian deli and fill them yourself. try ricotta cheese mix w/ sugar and some vanilla then add strawberries or any berry would be good then stuff your shell. mmmmmmmm you can drizzle chocolate on top to for that xtr touch.

good luck have a great time.

If you know how to do a nice soup that is always good for an appetizer. It filing but its not too heavy. Also dips are good especially spinach dip. For great recipes I would check out www.allrecipes.com. They are the best at good ideas for recipes.

Since alfredo sauce is heavy, you might want to do something light for an appetizer. A caprese salad would be great and you can make it look nice on a plate. Slice a tomato in semi thick rounds. On a place place a tomato round, on top put a few fresh basil leaves, and top it off with a thick slice of buffalo mozzarella. Repeat the layers one more time so you have a nice little tower in the middle of the plate. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and drizzle with olive oil.
You can dress the plate with pieces of basil leaves. It is simple to make, elegant and delicious. For dessert, I would again go for something light due to the heavy first course. Buy a can of mixed fruit and serve some of the fruit with frozen vanilla yogurt. Top it off with some caramel and you are done. Don't forget to add some crusty bread or garlic bread for your guests to soak up your sauce! Since you cannot have wine, make a fizzy cocktail mixing grape juice with seltzer water, and throw in some fruit to garnish.

I congratulate you on trying to develop your entertaining skills!
Try a simple bruschetta for appetizers. For dessert I would have something light like angel food cake slices covered in berries and a little whipped topping, maybe you could layer these in a parfait glass to be elegant.

Hey great for you to be having a dinner party! That's very cool. Main tip is to enjoy yourself and have fun at your own party. You can do that by prepping stuff beforehand so you can relax more at the party. Give yourself 1/2 an hour before guests arrive to change & chill out and choose your music, that gets you in the right mood. A CD changer is a big help or ask one of your friends to be in charge of music... jazz is great for dinner parties.

Your main course is Italian so here is a simple Italian appetizer that always goes down well.

You need some fresh mozzarella balls, couple of large tomatoes, fresh basil (not dried), olive oil, black pepper, and balsamic vinegar.

Slice the mozarella into rounds about 1/2 inch thick. Slice the tomatoes as close to the same size as you can. On each appetizer plate, arrange a couple of slices of mozzarella and a couple of slices of tomatoes, overlapping. Wash the basil and shred a few leaves very fine. Put two of three whole fresh basil leaves on top of the mozz & tom on each plate and sprinkle with the shredded basil. These plates can keep in the fridge covered in plastic wrap till dinner time, or you can just make one platter with all the overlapping slices. When you are ready to serve, unwrap, and drizzle each plate with a little olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and pass the black pepper for people to add their own. Simple, authentic and yummy!

For dessert try an easy Italian specialty: affogato. Give each guest a coffee cup filled with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Then give them each a small glass filled with hot strong coffee (decaf is fine). You pour the hot coffee over your ice cream - it foams up and is delish! So easy, chic & very Italian.

Have fun!!
