Answers:
To keep with the Italian theme, how about a bowl of assorted olives, a bowl of brushetta and some crusty small slices of Italian or French bread for dipping? Cubes of different cheeses.

Maybe some simple chunks of bread with a nice bowl of oil to dip them into. That would be easy and it's very nice.

Or perhaps some kind of open sandwich with some Italian theme.

Chips and salsa.
Bowl of peanuts and M & M's.
Cheese and crackers
Veggie tray with ranch
Queso dip always works well!

Good luck!
Your dinner sounds yummy!! :)

Cheese ball with crackers,vegi plate/w ranch dip,chips & dip

marinate salami, ham, cheese, green and black olives, yellow peppers. good finger food for kids and adults and keeps in the italian theme you already got going on. Happy 1st birthday baby.

I'd suggest one of the following:
- bigos (Polish dish) with bread
- aguacate with chips
- canapes with cured meat
- melon envolved in "jamon serrano" (also called posciutto)
- potato cakes with caviar
- brie cheese in sourdough, pre-baked

Taco Crisps

Buy as many boxes of trisquit crackers as you think you will need, depending on how many people you want to feed.

On a cookie sheet, place the crackers, fill it up, the crackers do not need to be any distance apart
On each cracker put a slice of cheese the same size as the cracker, use cheddar, Gouda, mozzarella, American, jack, any good melting cheese you like. You can use 2 or 3 different cheeses, and place them randomly if you wish.
On some of the crackers put a small amount of refried beans from the can, or all of them if you wish, but you might like a variety.
Every cracker needs 1 sliced, pickled jalapeno (buy a jar of them in the grocery store)
Add a small cut up piece of tomato to each cracker (this keeps them moist, as the cracker is dry.)
If you like, you can add a slice of olive as well, it will look pretty, either green or black or both.
Bake in the oven at 350 for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

For the baby, only use cheese on a cracker. You seem like you will be very busy, so this finger food will be fast and easy, and you can finish your other dishes while the family is busy eating these! They are a delight.

Happy birthday to your Angel, and enjoy!

A platter with store bought hummus, eggplant salad and some olives is quick, easy and yummy! Serve with pita triangles. Also, a platter of fresh mozzarella, basil and tomato would fit in nicely with your menu.

Pillsbury sells tubes of breadstick dough. Warm breadsticks with a dipping oil of extra virgin olive oil, 1 clove of mined garlic, 1 teaspoon of fresh minced flat-leaf parsley, fresh cracked pepper and a pinch of salt is also good.

Good luck and 1st birthday to your daughter!

sounds like you're serving a giant meal. why do you need an appetizer? then no one eats dinner.

because its a whole sauce and italian meal type of thing how about mini pizzas on english muffins with little tomato sauce and mozzerella
how about crackers with cheddar and pepperoni.
how about shrimp and dip
bread sticks and marnara sauce
mozzerella sticks
