Graduation party ideas for food and entertainment?!

Question:

Graduation party ideas for food and entertainment?

I'm having my graduation party this Saturday at a park in my community. It will be outside in the heat all day. We will have coolers full of ice for pop and water but pretty much all food needs to be left out. What can I prepare that will please a fairly decent crowd (20-ish), be affordable, and can sit out until it is all gone.

Also, I need entertainment ideas. I'm from ohio and cornhole is big here but we only have one set. What else can I do? There is a mini water park for the kids but adult and teenagers are left out. Any fun party games? Music everyone might be able to tolerate?

For the people who wanted to know:: cornhole is a game where you have boards that are slightly tilted with holes in the center towards the top. Our boards are VERY slick so that your bean bag falls off easier and therefor it's harder. Anyway, you have two teams (two people per team) and two people stand on each side of a board (one from each team) and you throw your bean bags at the board across from you. You have four bags and you try to get them in the hole. 3 points for gettting them in the hole 1 for getting them on the board. Then while your bags are still where they landed a member of the opposite team throws their bags. Each point they score counteracts your points, so if I score 8 points but the other person scores 7 I only end up with one point... person with the positive number gets the point. First to twenty one in our version wins. You don't win anything it's just fun, especially if you are bad and I am terrible.

Please, please, tell me what is 'cornhole'?!!

Music - well everybody likes the 50's and you can dance to it too!

Decor - keep it simple. Bunches of balloons are all you need to mark the spot.

Food - if it's all got to be prepped beforehand, no grilling at the park, then bring sandwich preps and let everybody make their own - keep the mayo (if you bring any) in the ice cooler. Have Chex mix, cold no-mayo pasta salad, and fruit salad too (you can serve this in cut-out watermelon halves, very festive looking). Piles of brownies and chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies can be made ahead of time and will go down great!

Organize teams for softball, volleyball, even silly things like sack and 3-legged races. It's summer, people want to cut loose a little and run around.

Congrats on your graduation and have fun!

For food, make some sandwiches and keep them cool until you go to the party. Wrap them in foil. put them in the shade. cut them in 1/4 pieces. Then you can get chips, pretzels, dip but keep it cool with foil also. veggie tray. Cut watermelon in small pieces. For music, ask you friends to bring some tapes, ask some of the adult to bring some that they like and alternate them. For entertainment, play games like horse shoes. There is a game you can make it is call washers, you take a rope and make two circles, take some washers and toss them as you would horseshoes. Crocket is always fun. Have your games set up when you get there, people are more apt to go play if they see the game. Don't ask if they want to play until they see others playing. Oh, the washers are the kind you use with screws and nuts. Each site gets four. Take turn tossing them.

Yea I am curious about the cornhole game too. What do ya win? lol

You can get bingo things at party supply stores. Wal-mart has them too. They would also have lots of other simple cheap game type stuff. Not knowing where you are at...there is probably a walmart nearby. There everywhere.

If you can find a grocery store or sanwhich shop to make the big 3 foot long sandwhiches. Bet you could rig up some long window plantar boxes to hold ice and set them on top of ice. Or keep a few plates of cheese and meats in a cooler and keep refreshing them as needed.

Do chips and cookies or fruit salads.

Didn't know if you have electric at your site, but keep batteries on hand if you use radios. CD players take a lot.
