What should i get my college-age brother for his birthday?
He is a freshman at stonybrook, what should i get him for his bday, February 16? Also, could i get him maybe a compact transportation vehicle other than a bike or segway? And he can't skateboard or anything.
obviously a college student already has a cell phone, and he also has a laptop. And a suggestion other than a gift card

How about a prepaid credit card then he would be able to spend money on whatever he wanted,and you could add money to it whenever you want.
Get him some G.I. Joe action figures and some Legos.
Cash, students are usually low on cash. But a car or transportation vehicle also works great.
You don't really say what he is into. My 18 year old is into the hip hop scene and loves anything that goes along with that, ie; shoes, clothes, and CD's. Does he already have an Ipod? How about an alarm clock that he can put his Ipod on and it charges it and plays his music through the speakers on the alarm clock. I got one for my son for Xmas and he seems to like it. Honestly, if he's in college you're best off buying him some booze.
Unless he doesn't drink, but if he does I'd go with a case of his favorite beer or a bottle of his favorite liquor. It'll help him have a great time at his birthday and he'll think you rock!
If that's not the case and he doesn't drink or you're too young to buy for him then just think about what he's into...sports? video games? movies? etc...
and just get him something like that.
I know you don't want to hear about a gift card, but honestly...as a college dude myself...I love gift cards. They are easy on everyone and he gets exactly what he wants that way.

You could make a gift for him...a silly tape of you lipsynching a song would be funny...or a mix tape of some of his fav. songs ...i always think a home-made gift is more meaningful than something that is owned by everyone else. it will make his day and bring you both closer together...hope this helps!
You could get him a dorm-size fridge and stock it with food and drinks.
make him a basket with his favorite snacks, buy him a few dvd's or blank ones if he likes to make his own movies, and promise the next time he comes home( i am assuming that he will still be at college for his b day) take him out for dinner or something that the 2 of you like to do.

You can get stock in many companies for as little as $50.oo. He will get plenty of stuff from everyone else that will just lay around. Why not give him something that will grow and make more money all by itself.
