Drink recepies to go with fondue?
I am having cheese fondue and also chocolate fondue and I don't want to just serve soda and coffee.
Answers:
Try some different wines with the cheeses-both red and white can work, be sure the red isn't too heavy, and serve a nice drier white. For dessert, you can make some coffee drinks, serve Baileys with coffee or on the rocks. Also, if you can find it, get some Rosa Regale. It's a champagne infused with rose petals and raspberries, and it goes really well with chocolate. It really brings out the flavors. I used to work at the Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant, and it's what I would recommend with dessert.
A nice crisp white wine would be perfect! Consider a fruity Pinot Grigio or a dry Chardonnay. A Saugvignon Blanc is good too. You could also consider a nice rose, such as White Zinfandel, or even a light red such as a Sangeovese.
Cheese fondue - a light Pinot Grigio or Chardonay is excellent for the this. Both have a unique mellow flavor that doesn't over power the taste of the cheeses. Cocktails - vodka martinis, vodka tonic's or vodka & sprite. All very refreshing and light.
Chocolate fondue - a nice port, Reisling wine or any dessert wine to compliment the sweetness of the chocolate. For non-alcoholic drinks try tropical fruit juices like mango or passion fruit.
