Have you ever been to a tea party in someone's house?
Please tell me if you liked it, what sort of food was served, what would you have done differently?

I have been to several teas,at a variety of places.Just remember to keep the atmosphere cheerful.Food and friends go well together,so do whatever yo like to do.the funnest one i attended had the ladies to wear a hat,and bring a collect able item from their home, and then tell when and where they got the collectable. There were a lot of seniors with beautiful tea cups and pots with stories from long ago to go with them. One lady had quilts and a story on each one....Fun, use your own ideas...
It was awesome!! there were sandwiches and fruits and cheeses
Lol. The last time was when I was 5 with Tiffany Jones up the street, and it was fake tea and eats, but with her cute little tea set. Ahh, the good ole days. . . . .
1. yes
2. it was "okay", she tried too hard and over did it
3. scones, tea cakes, small sandwiches and..tea!
4. Not made such a big deal to get all "tea party" related things at once...I wouldve had some nice mellow jazz music playing, had a few different teas in teapots, etc.

tea parties are nice to go to. this is a great time to sit down with friends and just chat! small starters are usually served during a tea party. they're lots of fun with the right person that is hosting the party.
Yes, scones , muffins, lady fingers, jello and chocolate mousse
I went to a tea party once.
The hostess was a particularly snooty wealthy widow woman whom decided to throw said party in honor of my high school soccer teams recent victory at nationals.
She served small finger foods mostly, and gave us tea that tasted like piss.
I sat politely, eating sandwichies and drinking the nasty tea and listening to her go on and on and on about her poor passed on husband and his contributions made to the local soccer team in the 1950's. When I could stand no more of her talking to me, I arose, pulled down my pants, and pissed all over her "very expensive" imported Victorian Antique Sofa. The rest of the team thought it was funny. So did the cops who took me to jail.
yeap went 2 a mates once she did tea scone and fresh cream plus jam ......

Biscuits and cheese, cocktail patties, fritters and tea of course.
YES!! i loved it it was so fun there was tea, and coke and lemonade i went wen i was 13 years old and we all were skirts or nice dresses, there was chese and finger sandwiches and pretzels YUM it was AWESOME
I threw one!!
It wasn't a "meat" tea, just a finger food spread. I still did two courses, though. Savories and sweets. If I had been really hard core, I would have had 2 differant kinds of tea for each flavor. It was a little out of the ordinary cuz I only had 3 people over, and 2 of them had specific allergies. I tried to do neutral savory dishes like smoked salmon on cucumbers. Because there were wheat and dairy allergies, I did a lot of fruit for dessert and found some gluten free scones that we could all enjoy.
Because my guests were bibliophiles and versed in Edwardian tea ceremonies, I was actually reprimanded for not serving the tea myself.
Teas automatically bring an air of formality that was a little daunting, even as the hostess. If i did it again, I would call it "My girls coming over to hang out and maybe we'll have some tea" and keep it informal.
I actually had an tea party as my bridal shower and I loved it I wish I could get married all over again to relive my tea party. I got the idea from watching the food network when they had a TV special on Disney Weddings and I wanted to do something new. My food was catered by a friend of mine and my menu consisted of all kinds of different finger foods from finger sandwiches. mini paninis, bacon wrapped shrimp, chocolate covered strawberries, cake, champagne tea, etc(to much food to name). I had my tea party in my aunts backyard which overlooks a lake and the weather was just right even though the sun was out it wasn't extremely hot (mid-April). I had a beautifully decorated tables, centerpieces and utensils under tents that seated about 30 of my closest friends and family all in all I wouldn't have changed anything about my tea party and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoyed mine.
yes! i have been to one and i have thrown one. i served cream puffs, danishes, cookies, different cakes, and meat and cheese cubes and about 12 different kinds of tea, of course! its a very classy party.
Yes!
We had delicious finger sandwiches on homemade bread, chips and crackers of all kinds, shrimp dip, artichoke dip, a variety of pickles and olives, homemade lemonade, frosted mini cupcakes, a tray of very expensive deli meats, all kinds of fillings for the sandwiches and a wonderful time! Also, a platter of homemade cookies.
