I am cooking dinner for my gf's birthday and the theme is Academy Awards.?!

Question:

I am cooking dinner for my gf's birthday and the theme is Academy Awards.?

I wanted to make some different dishes that were named after some movies or had something to do with some famous movies.
For example, I could make Mystic Pizza pizza or Fried Green Tomatos.

I want to make a salad, an appetizer, an entree, a dessert and an alcoholic beverage.

Please give me your ideas for some specific dishes named after specific movies. Thanks

Answers:
Hm, I don't exactly have a plethora of movie knowIedge but I'll try giving you some places you could possibly launch from. I found these recipes on foodnetwork.com but you could do a search to find styles to better suit your taste (no pun intended)

A Clockwork Orange: Orange Glazed Ham with Baby Carrots

Chocolat: (sorry, I'm a Johnny Depp fan :P ): Chocolate Mousse

Tortilla Soup: Tortilla Soup

As far as cocktails, I don't know, but I did find a site that listed some recipes for drinks named after silent film stars:

Maybe after all that, you could watch the movies the food ideas came from, if you don't have any other plans of course.

Hope that can help -- good luck! :)

I have another suggestion. What if you concentrate on the Academy Award nominees for Best Picture in 2007? It will be current and would make it easier for you, too.
Babel - Moroccan cuisine ex. falafel, salad, hummus etc.
The Departed - Irish American ex. Bailey's
Letters from Iwo Jima - Japanese ex. sushi, tempura
Little Miss Sunshine - American ex. pie for dessert
The Queen - British ex. roast beef or lamb and yorkshire pudding

Or, you could always mix it up and do other dishes. You get the idea.

you could have a "layer cake"

Salad = VeggieTales = a vegetable salad
Appetizer = Smokey & the Bandit = cocktail BBQ smokies
Entree = Porkys = pork chops with applesauce
Dessert = Chocolate = anything with chocolate
Beverage = Cocktail = her favortie drink
