You're kids love escargot! Wow, that's great! And I do agree, spending Valentines with the kids can be the best time ever!!! This is what I'm making, hopefully it turns out because I've never made it before!

Eewwww, your kids eat snails???

Beef hearts

We are expecting the first major storm of the winter where I am in New England so if we have power I am making a beef roast. If we loose power I am making corn chowder or beef stew on the wood stove.

I'm making Shrimp Creole over rice, green salad, homemade bread. For dessert, homemade cheesecake drizzled with strawberry glaze and a couple of chocolate strawberries on the side. Of course, our favorite wine with this!

A small, chilled shrimp cocktail; two small filets mignons, some potatoes, some baked squash, and fudgy brownies and ice cream for dessert.

I think I'm having a ham and cheese sandwich, for one.

Chateaubriand, baked potatoes, salad, cheesecake & me!

My boyfriend and I are busy on Wednesday, so I cooked over the weekend. I made four courses and the dishes were pretty tasty:

First course: pumpkin carrot soup; I saw this on the TV show "Cookin' In Brooklyn" - it made me hungry. I am not a fan of pumpkin, but it was sort of sweet yet savory at the same time.

Second course: I made a salad (I bought a bag of French mixed lettuce) from a Michael Chiarello recipe that had a citrus vinegarette - it was too tart (two lemons and two oranges,) but adding sugar may cure that. The salad also called for cocoa nibs, so that was a nice and weird addition.

Third course: seared pork tenderloin with cocoa spice rub; I was feeling ambitious. It smelled wonderful, but I don't think I let it sear enough - after I put it in the over for the alotted time, it wasn't fully cooked. I let it cook through, but it was a bit dry. The seasoning tasted marvelous, though. I just have to try again and let the mixture linger on the meat - to bring the flavors together.

Fourth course: Limoncello cheesecake squares; I thought this was going to be the toughest one, but it was surprisingly easy. I used a recipe from "Everyday Italian" and the cake was quite lemony, but the crust was the best part.

My boyfriend was highly impressed and loved everything - I think I may have found my calling.

brie and bread
roasted garlic herb chicken stuffed with onions and lemon slices
green salad with lots of fresh veggies
homemade shortbread cookies
chocolate ice cream
champagne
hugs & kisses
