Best Foods to Curve Cramps?

I have extremely difficult cramps. Does anyone know different foods I should try to curve the pain. Sometimes if I eat bananas the day before, my periods don't hurt as much

just take some advil and the pain will be gone I am young and Havent gotton my period yet but I am 10 and my best friend did so I am expected to get it soon. I am starting to get cramps already though and advil works for me.

I never heard of any food helping. I usually just take an advil and the pain is gone.

Eat foods rich in potassium such as bananas.

Mine were so bad one time, that I was incapacitated. Chicken soup, mac & cheese, omelettes, anything fatty and comforting helped. Maybe it was all in my head, but it really worked.

Eat whatever you want. Food makes me feel better no matter what. Try some tylenol, and something warm to put on those cramps!

Bananas will help 'a little', but a big glass of brandy works better.

foods low in salt to help the cramping and non-dairy stuff to lessen with any nausea you might have.

lots of water to stay hydrated - lessens cramping.

hot tea and hot soup will make you feel better too!

i highly recommend a heating pad - they have one-use ones that stick to the inside of your pants that you can wear for 8 hours(!) and they have made me feel a alot better. therma-care, you can get them at drugstores.

also, if you take painkillers for the day leading up to your period it won't be as bad.

sometimes it's just too much for me to actually do - but exersising or just a walk around the block or stretching in your apt will help a lot.

increase your daily intake of leafy green vegetables like spinach, collard greens, mustard greens, etc... you can do this starting two weeks prior to your period, but why not just eat them all the time and get all that healthy every day? leafy greens are high in iron and B vitamins, both of which help with PMS symptoms. cut way way back on dairy foods, starting at least two weeks before your period. dairy foods are super bad for people that get strong cramps & bloating.

when i get cramps i drink a hot chamomile tea with advil. that usually gets the job done. but if it's not enough for you then you should try a heating pad on your lower stomach. good luck.

P.S. also stay away from ice cream and anything that is bitter to the taste.

i take aleve and the cramps wont go away i unless i get in bed all covered up..put some socks on and drink tea...and try to relax cause it hurts more being tense and thinking about it...just get in bed and put on a soothing movie... that works 4 me

for some reason my wife eats oatmeal and it seems to work. Not sure were she heard it from.

If you start eating yogurt a couple of days before your period starts this will help. Also make sure you drink plenty of water.

Bananas are high in potassium; they will help. Make sure to stay away from high sodium foods & drinks, they will just cause you to retain more water, and make it worse. Also, make sure you drink lots of water. You can drink tea (no sugar) and cranberry juice too, they are natural diuretics and will help take off some of the excess water; which will help with the cramping and bloating as well.
