Sunday afternoon party from 3-5 Pm..what food to serve?!

Question:

Sunday afternoon party from 3-5 Pm..what food to serve?

It's a gathering of people we invited from the neighborhood. We have never met any of them. What should I serve? I don't think BBQ is appropiate since the party is in the mid afternoon and there is still snow on the ground. What kind of fingerfoods would you serve?

Answers:
Crackers and cheese
Hot Artichoke Dip
Chili - Cheese Dip (cream cheese topped with chili and cheddar)
Salsa and chips
Salami Roll-ups (pepper salami, cream cheese, cornichon)
Fresh vege platter with ranch dressing
Nuts
Cookies, brownies, and cupcakes for dessert

I've done this before, build your own tacos, with different fillings to choose from and warm tortillas. everybody loved it

Have finger foods. Egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches would be good. Something that doesn't require to much preperation. A veggie tray would be nice too. Have a variety of cheeses maybe on a nice cheese tray. For dessert, puddings or cookies.

Easy & light food. Appetizers, dips, chips, veggies/meat/cheese trays. Its early so you dont want dinner spoiled. Check Costco for oven apps. Paper/plastic products a must. There are nice ones out there. Dont forget the kids. Make sure you have enough ranch. They love to dip ! Have a great time !

here is a list of a billion little ideas!

this site ALWAYS gives me answers to questions like the one you posed above!

have fun!

How about some pizza. Maybe salad, cake and chocolate. I think you should serve some fast food. I don't mean order MacDonald's...but something like pizza or something. For drinks get pop or punch. Or... ask what the people want and make sure you have it for Saturday.

I went to a house warming a couple of days ago. There were two different kinds of deli meat trays and a cheese tray with assorted cheeses. There was an assortments of sandwich rolls to build your own sandwich. ( white/ wheat) Also two different kinds of mustards and mayo. Sides were potato salad and cold slaw. The table was decorated for Valentines, but a St Patricks's theme would be nice .... all green and white. I noticed some ladies watching carbos were grateful the sandwiches were not pre-made and they could forgo the rolls. At the end of the party, there was just a little cheese left... so it was a hit!

I'd prepare a cheese platter and a cold cut platter - close to it, you can place a basket of good quality bread. I'd also include a spinach (or broccoli) frittata (like spanish tortilla but made of green veg) and a raw veg salad (you can put lettuce, arugula, cherry tomatoes and shredded carrot). Some sweet and savoury muffins, a nice fruit platter. Coffee and tea. Simple but colourful and varied.

barq chicken baked beans potatoes salad

ok there is always hamburgers hot dogs chips pasta salads potatoe salad maybe like a regular salad pizza u could always have a deli plater with a variety of breads to choose from and maybe a veggie plater as well..maybe some cakes assorted or cupcakes it sounds cheesy but a lot of people love snacks maybe homemade mac n cheese a plater with different cheeses and crackers and pepperoni slices
I hope u all enjoy yourselves and have a great time

You could just serve desserts, hot cocoa, coffee and tea.

During the summer months some of us neighbors often has a Pot-Luck party and this has work well for us here, also it is a chance to sample each party guest food.

Other than that I guess being you have snow on the ground then perhaps you should offer chili dogs or even for that matter have a chili cook off party.
