Its my husbands 40th birthday tomorrow and?!

Question:

Its my husbands 40th birthday tomorrow and?

I want ideas on what to cook for 6 people.
Thank you all in advance.

Answers:
Risotto with mushrooms and saffron for first.
Salmon with vegetables for second, I'll give you an easy recipe: you take a big fillet of salmon, and you put it on top of bake paper (ladokolla in greek). You mix in a cup a little olive oil, lemon juice and wholegrain mustard, and you pour that on the fish. You cut basil, parsley, onion in rings, red green and yellow peppers (piperies), and you cover the fish. Then you close the bake paper (wrap it around the fish) and you put it in the oven for about 30 minutes. It is delicious! Oh, also salt and peper and a little garlic can be added to taste.

just have something fast...

then have a massive p*ss up!!

that wil be alot better! :o)

I think a big pot of chilli or curry or bolognaise is a good idea. then you can just chuck it on the table with a ladle and they can help themselves. much more relaxed than doing a sit-down dinner. You need to enjoy the evening too so dont stress yourself out!

Start with a fruit cocktail, then a pasta course, it's easy and filling, then make a really special dessert and finish with a good drink.

pasta is always better

cook what u know how to make best, and cook a lot of it! i suppose it'll help if it's a dish yer husband enjoys, that way yer having thought of him on his birthday can carry on as leftovers!

A big pot of Chilli Con Carne with a large tureen of rice and a big salad for those who are watching their weight. This will all work out cheap and everyone should be happy!

Even if you're having a sit-down meal, this can work very well. But if you need a starter you can't go wrong with that old classic prawn cocktail!

For dessert you can make a cheesecake and this can be made one or two days before as it will keep for up to 3 days after baking!

Roasted lamb shanks served with Cheddar/whole grain mustard mash and steamed veg. maximum taste minimum fuss.

if you need cooking instructions please add to your details and I'll edit my answer.

BBQ

YEAH CHICKEN PASTA IT IS REALLY SIMPLE AND CHEAP TOO. YOU WILL NEED CHICKEN FILLET BREASTS,PASTA,SPRING ONIONS, SWEET PEPPERS (IF YOU LIKE THEM) SALT PEPPER(BLACK) BIT OF ALL PURPOSE SEASONING AND SOME MAYO AND WATER. CUT AND DICE THE CHICKEN AND BOIL OR FRY IT FOR 10MIN'S HAVE ONIONS AND PEPPERS CHOPPED WHEN READY ADD TO CHICKEN WITH YOUR SEASONING MIX IN AND ADD MAYO. WHEN PASTA DONE MIX ALTOGETHER AND HAY PRESTO YOU HAVE CHICKEN PASTA. ITS NOT MEANT TO HAVE A SAUCE WITH IT BUT YOU CAN ADD A BIT WATER TO IT

Whip up a buffet that way everyone can pick what they fancy....

Salads, pasta, sliced meats, garlic bread, vegetables, etc.

Get some desert (frozen) and get it to thaw tomorrow a few hours before dinner... cheesecake usually goes down well. fruit salad.

If you are after recipes then check out a couple on BBC Good Food site.

It offers you a lot of ideas, recipes and also asks you for hoq quick a meal you wish to whip up... 5 minutes, 10 minutes or longer. Handy!

One tasty recipe for desert off that Good Food site...

RASPBERRY ICED MOUSSE
(serves 4 takes 5 mins) - but you can just double ingredients and add another 5 minutes.

2 x 250g tubs Quark (low-fat cream cheese)
50g icing sugar
squeeze or two of lemon juice
250g pack of frozen raspberries

Tip the quark and sugar into a large bowl, squeeze in a few drops of lemon juice and beat with a wooden spoon until smooth and creamy (you can do this an hour or two ahead).

Gently stir in raspberries until they begin to break up and mixture is streaked pink; taste and add a little more lemon juice if liked. Spoon into glasses and serve.

Have a great meal tomorrow and hope all goes well for your husband's 40th.

Dessert idea :
REALLY DELICIOUS ....try dessert pizza ....buy the toppings it's really easy - like fruit, chocolate , caramel and choclate sauce , smarties , m&ms ......whipped cream , strawberry sauce - make a few different ones and people can choose and taste different slices !!! Have a great party - wish i was there - i have a great game idea if u need - email me !!

What about roast beef and all the trimmings?

Then get him a birthday cake for afters.

Pasta, ziti, or lasagna is good.
For dessert, make him a cookie pie.
Make chocolate chip cookies, and spread the batter all over a pan, then cook. Then decorate with frosting and sprinkles. YUMMY!

the largest kaisser roll you can find or make

romaine lettuce, sliced leeks, diced tomato, fresh sliced mushrooms, shreddred cheddar cheese, a squirt of ranch dressing, franks hot sauce

With any of the roasts, serve baked potatoes (most healthy)

Dessert, I assume, will be the birthday cake.

Have fun, and wish your hubby a happy birthday!

pasta is always a good bet, most people like pasta and there are so many options to choose from

http://allrecipes.com/search/recipes.asp... (if that link doesn't work just go to allrecipes.com and search pasta)

Salad and garlic bread always go well with pasta...maybe followed by dessert and drinks?

I'm not sure where you are located but if bbq is an option that's always enjoyed

Chicken enchiladas, salad, spanish rice and flan for dessert.

something special u don't cook very often..something to show ur hubby that he is special.. and of course u should enjoy cooking it.. otherwise its not worth it.
happy birthday to him and have a nice day all together... with yummy food :-)
