Does anyone have a good theme for a 20 year old (dry) birthday party?!

Question:

Does anyone have a good theme for a 20 year old (dry) birthday party?

Answers:
20 is a big number; no longer a teenager, not quite an adult. It’s sort of a 'crossing over' year. How about a birthday theme to develop a list of 99 things to do before you die? Everyone can build their lists and you’re sure to have plenty to talk about.

Order some exotic dishes. They don’t need to be expensive, just something you haven’t tried before. For example, if you choose Asian cuisine, be adventurous and skip the Mar Far Chicken for something you haven’t tried before.

Bring some travel magazines, a notepad and some pencils for each guest, and, if possible, a laptop computer with a Wi-Fi connection (in case someone needs some help with their list).

Once the lists are finished, compile them and email the collection to all the party guests. From that day forward, they’ll be able to share their accomplishments and growth as they work through their personal list of 99 things I want to do before I die.

If it's dry, how about a desert/cowboy/cowgirl theme. Girls can get some sexy costumes if you do that.

HMm not really.. but you cna do a mardi gras thing

make it a city dance club discoteque theme

no none ever does this.

post office=)'

80's theme.

Do a Toga party. It's fun for the boys and the girls. Greek costume is also SIMPLE!

dry?

i dont know how fun this would be for a dry party...but hey you might like it. Its a white T-shirt party. You tell everyone to wear plain white shirts (that they wont mind getting ruined) and you provide markers and everyone writes on eachothers shirts. its fun. after the party everyone can go home and see what crazy things people wrote on their shirts. We did it as a 21st bday bash and it was a blast...good luck with the dry party though.

I think that a murder-mystery party would be cool.

It depends on what your guest of honor is into. I would suggest setting up a "bar" and making two or three "mocktails" that have fun ingredients, and a bunch of hors d'oeuvres. They don't have to be sophisticated but they should be not your average. Foodtv.com is a good source for both. Find them a space that is semi private so they don't feel like they are being chaperoned. Get a music system hooked up that shuffles music that your 20 year old likes and make sure that there are far less chairs than people to encourage mingling. Go online and find a bunch of fun party games, like the what if book (amazon.com) or cranium to have around if everyone feels like playing. This may sound cheesy but if you can afford to rent a kareoke machine it is always BIG fun! Send out formal (but not stuffy) invitations for a sophisticated feel. Target usually has really nice ones that are theme related. If they are into cards, set up a poker table. Make sure there are lots of opportunities to talk and play. Ask your 20 year old (or friends if it is a surprise) what they would like! Their input makes them feel involved and gets them excited about it! Plus you don't end up with any disasters. Good luck!
