Suggestions for good quick food for party?!

Question:

Suggestions for good quick food for party?

I am having a 'pamper party' tomorrow where some lovely ladies come round to my house and provide me and 5 of my girl friends with pamper treatments massage, facials etc.

I would like to serve some simple (preferably healthy) food, which is quick to prepare and easy (I don't have much time and I am a rubbish cook!) Any good suggestions?

Shrimp cocktail is super easy, very quick, and sooo good :)
You can buy frozen fully-cooked shrimp at the grocery store, thaw, and then arrange on a plate with a bowl of cocktail sauce in the middle for dipping. No cooking required!

Smoothies are especially nice for a healthy drink, and I think they'd be wonderful with your spa theme. The great thing is you can use fresh or frozen fruit.

If you have something in mind, or would like to use specific ingredients you already have on hand, try All Recipes (link below). They have a handy ingredient search where you can search for recipes by entering ingredients you do and do not want to use. This is great for aiming at healthier foods as well. They have a great healthful foods section.

Hope I helped. Good luck with your pamper party!

go to Iceland (if you are english) the party food section is cheap tasty and takes no effort (other than putting it in the oven)

Go to the grocery store and buy a pre-made veggie tray and other foods that the girls will like.

Get carrots and other good dipping veggies and some dip (ranch or whatever). Also maybe cheese and crackers or meat cheese and crackers... Maybe Nachos, or boneless buffalo wings, queso, chips and salsa, toqueots, taco bell, KFC, Chilis...

Paella is a good dish. Add some nice fresh shell fish - mussels, prawns etc. It's really quick to make and once you've made it everyone can just help themselves!

or if you want a healthier option. grill some chicken breast and add it to salad...buy some cesar mix and hey presto.../!

veggies and spinach dip is always a winner ,,,,,, veriety of cheeses and crackers ....... fruits plate ........... a good salad with or without meat

green tea ice cream "always relaxing"

ya definitly---

go to shop rite and get a fruit and vegetable platter- they are always fresh.

u can get cream cheese, chocolate fruit dips and ranch for the veggies --they all come with it

or baked chips are always good--lays chips

94 percent fat free popcorn is always fast, just pop like 3-4 bags of it for like 5 people--and orville redinbacher is delicious

or better yet--the kettle corn is great! they have it 90% fat free i believe---and its kinda sweet kinda salty if you like that

you could always order form a local deli little sandwhiches--turkey and ham are nice options they are filling and they arent too high in fat

thats all i can think of on top of my head-best of luck!!

if you want to make something yourself try these.

get some tomatoes
slice the top off (throw it away)
scoop out the inside (throw that away)
fill the inside with some pesto (don't fill it all the way to the top)
top with some mozzarella cheese

place on a tray, and pop in a pre-heated oven (200 degs C) for 10 minutes. don't leave them in too long or the tomato goes mushy and they slop about (with the pesto being quite oily).

as an alternative you could use sundried tomato paste instead of pesto, or even fill them up with mozzarella or some other cheese.

they make good bite size treats if you use small tomatoes ... very tasty and very healthy too.

have a good party.

You can buy ready prepared salads, do some of them, some celery and cucumber sticks, with some dis....yumyum.

You could also get some low fat tortilla chips and tom dip, yumyum.

Then you could have some fresh fruit salad, yummy with some fresh yogurt, yuyum

Add a few sarnies in their as well. Cant have a party without sarnies! thats if your english anyway!!!

You can make a spinach dip with bread and crackers the recipe is on the knorr vegetable soup box. You can buy a fruit and cheese platter. You can make little tea sandwiches with cream cheese and cucumbers. You can have a pitcher of sparkling water with lemon and orange slices in it.

Take a half dozen flour tortillas coat one side with cram cheese, layer shaved ham, turkey, or other favorite lunch meat and sprinkle generously with chives roll and chill. then cut into 3/8 inch long pieces.

Add tray of grape or cherry tomatoes, baby carrots. celery, grapes, pineapple chunks, and cantaloupe chunks. with a good low fat ranch dressing.

NO cooking and it is decent finger food.

roll up sandwiches are good. just put ingredients you want to use like ham and cream cheese in a flour tortilla and roll it up. refrigerate for a while and then slice up thin bite size pieces. you should get 8-10 per tortilla. also can be bought premade at sams club

spicy tuna spread and crackers
mix tuna mayo.can of green chili and dash of tabasco. serve with crackers

brick of cream cheese on a dish cover with salsa and serve with crackers or tortilla chips

pretzels and honey mustard

mini wieners heated in bbq sauce
and a sweet like cookies or brownies

can get a couple of muffins and slice to individaul pieces.

In the frozen foods scetion, you can find mini quiche, taquitos and all sorts of appetizers.
Pick up a veggie tray in the produce section.
Or, make your own wraps and cut them into small slices. No cooking, just cutting and assembly.

Yummy wraps #1:
spinach & herb tortillas
cream cheese
sliced cucumber
chopped lettuce or field greens

Spread a thin layer of crem cheese on each tortilla.
arrange cucumber slices over cheese, top with lettuce or greens. Roll snugly, tucking ends in. Cut each wrap into 3-5 pieces for appetizers.

Wraps #2
tortillas (any flavor)
hummus (found in gourmet section of grocery store)
sliced red pepper, zucchini, carrots, etc.
alfalfa or broccoli sprouts

Spread tortilla with hummus, top with sliced vegetable and a mound of sprouts. Roll snugly, tucking ends in. Cut into slices to serve.

Good luck and have fun!

veggies, cheese, crackers, hummus and a little fruit. it's all healthy and yummy! have fun!

An old favourite, but last time I had a 'do' they went like wildfire - cubes of mild cheddar cheese on a cocktail stick with either a grape or a cube of pineapple from a tin.

One of my favs is :-

Croissants with liver and garlic pate (asda) spread inside and warmed in the oven. Deliciousssssss!
Its prob not healthy tho!

well i am not sure about the healthy part .but in the Caribbean we love to make this get some black prunes with out seed the the middle and put some peanut butter stick a tooth pick in the prunes so that no one have to use there hands . lay the prunes on a flat dish with lettuce leave and garnish with row carrots so they can nibble on the carrots too. hope that i was some help .

cheese tray (havarti, gouda, & goat cheese) served w/ grapes & whole grain crackers, vegetable tray served w/ dip, lavash rolls (use spinach or herb tortilla wraps, layer in them turkey, spinach, flavored cream cheese, & sweet roasted red peppers in the jar) then roll the wrap firmly, and cut into slices (across the short way) serve cold, and pasta salad (cook 1 pound of tri-colored rotini until el dente, drain & set out to cool. add 1 medium each diced; green pepper, red pepper, red onion, broccoli florets, and 1-2 jars of balsamic(not cream) italian dressing and stir, serve cold. also set out some truffles or small cookies. to drink have water & whatever people commonly drink where you live, also, mimosas are great, which is 1/3 orange juice, and 2/3 spumante' champagne served cold in a champagne' flute. yum. have fun!

This one is wickid simple and really good. thinly sliced Italian bread in a dish/basket and on a saucer put olive oil with a couple dashes of balsimic vineger and a sprinkle of basil for dipping. Good luck. Also a white wine that goes great with this appetiser is Santa maria pinot grigio. about $20.00 a bottle. chill and open about 30 minutes before serving.

This is one of the quickest/easiest recipes:

Low Fat Jalapeno Poppers
Makes 12 Poppers (2 per person)

12 slices low fat/reduced fat bacon
12 fresh jalapeno's (whole)
Low fat cheddar or monterey jack cheese. Buy a block of whichever cheese not sliced or shredded. You could do cubed.

Directions

Slice open pepper(s)& deseed them (thoroughly). Will look like an alligator mouth. DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY THRU.

Wash hands immediatley after

Cut cheese into pieces that will fit into the "alligator mouth"/sliced pepper. If using cubes cut the cube in half and then stuff in pepper.

Wrap bacon in a spiral motion around the pepper so the whole pepper is covered. The stem will be the only part of the pepper you can see once wrapped. One slice per pepper is fine!!!

Bake for 20 mintes.

Let cool and serve. By deseeding the peppers they lose alot of the "hot" people fear by eating these peppers.

Some crackers different cheeses and wine works well

Make jacket potatos, try little potatoes so they are more 'snack-like', serve with loc acl dressings. Homemade coleslaw made with low fat mayo? Chopped up selection of fruit with bowls of yogurt as dips.

Vegetables like carrots and celery are always good for you. Maybe serve with ranch dip? Tuna, chicken or turkey salad are easy. Crackers and Cheese are nice. Nachos and Salsa are better for you than Chips and Dip.

make fruit kabobs (fruit on a stick)
Hummus and pita bread or vegetables

fruit kabobs with strawberries, grapes and pineappe
I've also made tortellini kabobs with cheese tortelline, chunk of cheese and green olives you marinate them in Italian dressing. mini sandwiches buy the mini rolls and cut down the middle and do turkey or ham sandwiches serve with pickes lots of condiments so fun and so yummy : ) have fun

A great dip you can use ground beef or turkey meat (seasonsed and cook) then in a crock pot place the meat with velvetta cheese and salsa or regular shredded cheese. With this dish you can make a lot, but its so quick and delicious you'll have t stop yourself from eating it. Serve with Tortilla chips Measure how much you need by how many you'll be serving.

You can also add corn and black beans to make it filling.
Sides Gucamole/Sour cream Very inexpensive and a party favorite

Something in a crockpot would be great, you can start it in the morning & it will be great by mealtime.
I'd suggest Italian Beef sandwiches.
Throw a 4 pound beef roast in the crockpot with a tablespoon of Italian seasoning, and 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, a cup of water, and cook on high all day (don't open the lid--it makes it take longer.). Buy some good crusty rolls to serve the beef on, and some chips, beans, coleslaw, or potato salad as a side dish.

At serving time, slice the beef thinly & put back in the crock to stay moist & tender.

You can also precook & shred chicken breasts, then cook in the crockpot with BBQ sauce for a couple hours, and serve on rolls.

Have fun!

M&S have great party food. Stock up on Sushi packs of you're being healthy.

Sounds like a great party have fun!

What about doing some salad wraps or salad filled pitta breads. maybe some tortilla chips with dips. You could also serve some raw veg with dips using cauliflower, carrot bundles, baby tomato's, sliced cucumber and olives with the dips.

for afters maybe do fruits such as strawberries, pineapple cubes, apricots marshmallows and coconut with either melted chocolate or a fruit fromage frais?
