Cupcake ideas?!

Question:

Cupcake ideas?

I'm turning 15 in 3 weeks and I'm planning an indoor pool/luau party. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to decorate cupcakes to fit my theme? Any help would be great!

Answers:
~Palm Tree Cake (feeds 60)
Need:
3 cake mixes (any flavor)
Green frosting (white frosting with green food coloring)
Dark chocolate frosting
Milk chocolate frosting
Baked coconut
Cupcake liners
Bake one cake mix in a greased 13X9 baking pan according to directions. Line muffin tins with cupcake liners. Make 55-60 cupcakes. Cook all cakes according to times on box. Cut the rectangle cake down the center and place end to end for the palm tree trunk. Frost with the dark chocolate frosting. Use the tip of a knife to make "X"'s all down the trunk with the milk chocolate frosting. Next, put 6 cupcakes aside and frost the rest with the green frosting. Use the remaining milk chocolate frosting to frost the 6 cupcakes "coconuts". Top the 6 with the baked coconut. Now, arrange the cupcakes into palm leaves at the top of the trunk. You should be able to make 5 palm trees with approx. 12 cupcakes each. Add in the "coconuts", and you have a palm tree.

decorate with flower themes and set them up to look like leis. Set the cupcakes up like the different islands. Decorate them up with white frosting make an edge around the top, use the blue decorator gel to make a "pool" on the top and tan colored sugar(or maybe toased coconut) as sand around the sides! maybe the little umbrellas, tons of ways! check into 'chinese trading company' catalog for decorations, real inexpensive!

Theres are pretty cute, Desert Island cupcakes
Recipe ingredients:
Cupcakes
Blue frosting
White frosting
Assorted gummy fish and sharks
Ground nuts
Green craft paper
pretzel rods
Candy seashells
1. Unwrap the cupcake and turn it upside down. Frost the bottom two thirds with blue icing, swirling it to give the appearance of waves, and the top third with white icing.
2. Place the gummy fish and sharks in the "sea." Sprinkle the ground nuts onto the white icing for a sandy beach.
3. Make a palm tree by cutting fronds out of the green paper and fastening them with icing to the top of the pretzel rod. Plant the palm on the island and have a few candy shells wash up on the beach. Now, this is a desert island.

go to Wilton cake decorating's web site they have lots of ideas with pictures that might make it easier to do

look at www.marthastewart.com

Decorate your cupcakes with like blue and the put a sun at the top on the side. Like it looks like a pool and the sun. Then put little umbrella's your favorite colors on the cupcakes. It is like a sun umbrella to keep the sun offa u. HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say get colored sugar granuals and sprinkle them on there and maybe even put little umbrellas on the tops. That would look cute and festive!

Let's see... If it's a luau you could decorate the tops of the cupcakes with flowers. Use icing for that, or u could put a plastic flower on each on. Colors you could use really depend on your color scheme. You could use purple or pink. I've been to Hawaii and seen a luau. The colors are bright like purple, pink, and an orange.

Put some icing ontop of the cupcakes and place an umbrella ontop of each cupcake you are making to make it look more like an actual luau.

Go to familyfun.com they have a section on cupcakes. I bet you could get some cute ideas there.

Blue frosting with little gummie fish......... or stick some of those drink umbrella in the cupcake.

If you can decorate a cake you could make flowers for your cupcakes or get some already made flowers from a bakery , or just get paper umbrellas to stick on top of each one in a different colour get some fresh orchids for a vase or a cored pineapple and place it in the middle of the tray where the cup cakes will be . Have fun!

Sounds very cute and fun!

You could do a variety of very bright colors, pink, blue, green, etc. and top each with a palm tree or hula dancer molded candy (you can buy these at party stores) or with plastic shapes.

OR you could do pastels, and buy a few leis- take apart the leis and use the flowers for toppers.
Check out this sample- it looks very fun:
