How do I figure out how much pizza I need for my son's birthday party?!

Question:

How do I figure out how much pizza I need for my son's birthday party?

I have 15 children ages 1-5 and 31 adults. We're only having pizza, and then cake and ice cream.

Answers:
Most kids from age 1-5 will eat one piece, or at the most two.
So that's thirty slices for the kids.

For the adults...I would figure 3 pieces each (some will eat more some less)

So you have about 100 slices for the adults.

Now you've got around 130 slices...so I would figure out where you wanna order and ask how many slices come with the size you ordered and do the math from there.

I would say roughly 10 pizzas. But it depends on where you order from.

Good luck!

Children between one and five will probably eat only one piece. Your average adult in a social setting will eat between 2 and 3 pieces. Just find out how many slices per pizza, and go from there.

Also, keep in mind most children will only eat cheese pizza.

I have always figured 2-3 slices per person. It usually comes out right.

adults x 2 ea.
kids that small x 1 ea.
throw in a couple extra pieces~ just in case

your best bet would probably be 2-3 Sheet pizza's. I believe a sheet pizza contains 32 slices. So divide the number of guest with 1-2 slices per person maybe 4 for the adults depending on the size of the sheet pizza where you are.

I think you are providing more of a snack for an event - versus an "all-you-can eat buffet". So, I'd plan for at least 2 pieces. Also depends on how long folks will stay, will they be over a couple of hours or longer. If longer, I'd order another pizza.

When I was in the pizza business we were always amused by the question, "How many slices in a large?". Our reply was ,"How many would you like?". We could cut as many or few as you want.

A better guage is to check with your pizzaria. If you're ordering a thick crust pizza you will need less than a NY Style thin crust. Our large was a 16" diameter NY style pizza. We could tell our customers that they could expect that to satify between 3-4 adults depending upon how hungry they are. Normally we would cut a 16" pie into 8 slices, but for catering our clients often prefered 12 slices, because people could sample more varieties. If you order 16" pizzas I would estimate that you will need about ten pizzas. Order an extra or two if you really want to play it safe. Good advice from others on ordering plain cheese for the little ones, few of them will want anything else.

Why not add a green salad to your menu? Easy and cheap to put together, and a lot of adults will appreciate having it.

Ask for a discount, they should give you one for that quanity.

I'd say about 12 large pizzas should do.

I'm thinking at least two, or three pieces per child and at least two per adult. A large, or extra large will divide into 8 slices, unless you have it cut Chicago/St. Louis style(into squares)which are smaller pieces and I would think not fewer than 18 pizzas. Call Pizza Hut, or one of the other national pizza places. Sometimes they will give you a special price for a party. They might even have coupons you can use, but large sales will generally warrant VIP treatment. We have delivered to large groups before.

just get two fat cat pizza's party size and u should even have left over
