Do you have to do the food yourself or could you pay the venue to do it? Lots of places will offer party food (Waitrose do some for around £9 per head). Depends on what your budget is really... lots of bread is usually a good way to bulk up and is cheap - lots of different sandwiches perhaps, along with crisps and peanuts - again all cheap and cheerful and can be bought in bulk. Could you go to a wholesalers or buy in bulk (somewhere like Costco?) Ask for help as it's likely to be hard work. I'd go for sandwiches, sausage rolls, crisps, nuts, some salads, dips, bread sticks and then some cakes, gateaux etc. Good luck!

icelands do lots of things for parties and they deliver.

Start your party around 7:00pm. Most people will eat prior to the event. Then you can supply appetizers for your guests to munch on. No need to feed everyone dinner.

Buffet is an excellent idea. The bar has much experience
with how much food to prepare. It is also cheaper per person than having everyone choose from the menu.

for 100 people you need 5 loves of assorted sandwiches, chese pickle, tuna, egg, ham, pate. 30 bridge rolls as before, with garnish. 100 small sausage rolls. 150 cocktail sausages.6 assorted quich. crisps, nuts, pckled onions/eggs.

If you have to do the food yoursel I would recommend asking a couple of the other guests to help out (choose wisely) split the buffet up so that one person brings sandwiches, another brings pasta salads, another brings green salads, another brings sweet treats etc. We did this recently for a party and everyone was happy to help.

get everyone to bring in a certain type of food cos it always works for me!

You didn't say what time of day you'll be having your event, and it does make a difference in what you serve. A buffet is a great idea if you're having dinner. The rule of thumb with dinner is to build your menu around one meat and one vegetarian dish...such as: chicken piccata and fettucini alfredo. Things will get pricey, though, as you use more meats etc. Appetizers are workable and you can create "stations" to house them thru out the venue. Perhaps the venue staff can assist you in making sure that things don't run out. Appetizers usually are comprised of both hot and cold ones and generally include a cheese tray, fresh fruit, prawns and cocktail sauce and/or lox, puff pastry wheels, rolls, sliced cold-cuts and the like. Something you might also want to consider for a group this size is a "salad bar" Choose three good salads that are elegant and tasty, add some amazing breads, a cheese platter and fresh fruit and you should have enough to feed your crowd. Here is a menu I created for a shower for a colleague:

1. Baby spinach salad with crumbled bacon, roasted cashews, mandarin oranges, feta cheese and French Dressing
2. Pasta salad with salami, feta, red bell pepper, green onion, olives, and Italian dressing
3. Green salad with garbanzo beans, beets, blue cheese, grape tomatoes, kidney beans and Italian Dressing
4. Cheese tray with: Manchenga, Mushroom Brie, Dill Havarti, and Aged Gouda with crackers and flatbread
5. Seedless green and red grapes
6. Asiago, potato-rosemary, and olive breads with butter
7. White chocolate raspberry cheesecake

You can also include chicken tenders that have been marinated overnight is Italian dressing and grilled. Anyway, good luck!
