What kind of Birthday cake should I get for my dad?
My dad's birthday is coming up. He's almost 50 and I want to buy him a cake. What kind of cake should i buy for him? A fancy one or something simple?

Does he have a sense of humor??? If so, I have baked several 50 year olds "graveyard cakes". Just bake a chocolate cake. Before you ice it, cut out a rectangle on either side and dig out the cake. Place a fake tombstone on it that says "Here Lies ____'s youth" then place gummy worms coming out of it and ice the rest. OR Ice a sheet cake and "draw" with tubed icing a toilet. Place tootsie rolls "in" the toilet. The cake can say above it "Who Give a ........ if you're 50?"
If he doesn't have a sense of humor then just get his favorite type of cake (nothing fancy) spice cake, german choc, whatever his favorite it.
something fancy you're only half a century old once!
fancy, its his 50th!
German Chocolate 3 layer cake with coconut pecan frosting. trust me, it's a winning combo!!
if he is extravagent get him something nice and fancy. if he is just your dad, a simple cake. maybe solid chocolate would be good!
I would definitely buy him (or make him) his favorite, if he has one. If not, get something fairly fancy, with maybe 2 or 3 flavors so that everyone will get something they'll probably like.
if you are having a big party i would definitley get him a larger nicer cake since it's his fiftieth birthday. if only having a small get-together then i think a home-made or simple store bought cake would be fine.
Well 50 is a big one for him, so this time i would go with something really nice.
something not to simple but not to fancy and the depends on how many people will eat it
I'm 50 and I like the triple chocolate fudge cake but I don't know if your dad likes chocolate. But happy birthday from me
50 = fancy! I love the specialty shops like baskin robbins or cold stone creamery .. they make the BEST ice cream cakes!
Do not waste your money and buy him any cake, make him a cake. It always means more to make something than just buy a cake, you can even use a box cake and add chocalate chips, sprinkles, etc. use your imanigation. If that doesn't suit you go to a web page for making cakes and get some ideas from there. Good luck.
Get what he likes the best. Whether it be blackforset..plain white..whatever his flavor is the best. Sometimes the real fancy ones can be way to sweet and dense..
or..hey..make the cake yourself!..bet he would love that!
don't worry about...your dad will love anything you get ot do for him
u should bake him a simple cake. and decor8 it urself so it says like happy bday dad
it depends on the type of humor your family has..i bought my dad an over the hill cake, that was when he turned 50. im sure you've seen the little black and white tombstone candle, but i had his made at Raleys, it had the grim reaper, tombstones, black jelly beans, it was the cutest thing..i also went and bought a bunch of over the hill black and white balloons and hung them all over the house, so when he came home, he was definately suprised..it was a blast..if your family isnt quite as humorous, then a nice cake thats made for a guy..he'll like it no matter what you get him..
a ice cream cake from Culvers, or Baskin Robbins
1 with a stripper in it or his favorite kind
Something very fancy and incredible to celebrate his half century of life.
i think you should go al out. go and get something like a car cake or something, specialty bakeries make things like that. it'd be so pretty
Whats his interest? If he likes cars make one shaped like that or esle one like a guitar. If nothing works a cake shaped like a whisky bottle is sure gonna make him drool!
Want to really make your Dad's birthday a memorable one?
Make the Birthday Cake yourself !!
It may be that store-bought cakes are more pretty,
but popular opinions about that make-it-yourself cakes show you took the time to be extra-special for your father.
Make the cake yourself - watch his eyes light up and his smile exude warmth because you took the time to make it a special day for him.
find out what your dad's favorite kind of cake is and buy or make him that kind.
fudge not F U C K
fancy. he deserves it. please tell him happy birthday for me
Get him a Red Velvet cake, my husband loves them...
well..get him a cake of the flavour he likes, be it simple or fancy.. he'll love it.
I'm a 40 something dad. I prefer simple and the more chocolate the better.
Men like good cakes, get him a Champagne cake and have them put a real nice 50 on it.After it is cut you can get real champagne (or sparkling grape juice) and toast a milestone in his life.Enjoy....
A Cassava Cake with a picture of all his family on it...the bakery can do it.
I'd go fancy or at least, personalized. What does he like to do? Fish, bowl, golf? There are lots of cool cakes that would be eye catching and fun.
50 is a big deal- make it so. There will be lots of pictures and if the cake is fabulous, it will be in them!
Have fun!
