Question: **Calling all Parents**I am throughing a Birthday Party for my kids at a roller skating rink!.!.!.!.!?
My daughter is 11 my son 8 and for money reasons we are combining their party together!. It will be at our local roller rink!. We only have the rink for 2 hours!. Should I just let them skate, should we play games also!? Should they open there gifts there in front of everyone!? also I used to do the goody bag thing but I feel like it is a waste of money, what do you think!? Do parents expect their kids to come home with something!? I also just planned on chips, juice and cake thats good, right!?!?!?
Thanks in Advance, also if you have any suggestions Please leave them!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think a joint skating party sounds great!. If it's at the roller rink, the should have a great party atmosphere- music playing etc!. I would ask if they offer anything special for birthdays- they may do a birthday announcement for your kids and get everyone at the rink to sing "Happy Birthday", and as you are bringing a group, they may offer games- it's worth asking the question!.

In terms of the goody bag- they can be a nightmare- and let's face it most of the stuff in them ends up gathering dust somewhere!. However, you could make them special by taking a photograph of the party group, or of the party guest with your kids when they arrive, and putting this in with the goody bag!. My kids have kept all their party photos, and have them in a special album!. If you wanted to put something additional in the bags, perhaps just add some small bags of candy, or check out toys at the dollar store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, If you rent the rink for 2 hours, you just rent the floor (where they skate)!. So technically, you should be able to let them skate for 2 hours, let them come off the floor, to a side area, and then if you want to play games, sure!. Its nice for kids to come home with something, but its your children's b-day!. Make the most of it!. I know lots of people who combine their kids birthday parties because of money:)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think only rich/snobby parents EXPECT their child to come home from someone elses party w/ something!. I never do goody bags and I have never heard anyone complain!. I would do 2 hrs of skating and then most rinks will let u have a room for a 1/2 hr to an hr for cake and presents!. I would check w/ the rink on what they mean by 2 hrs!. I would skip the other games!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That was a great idea! I think that they should just skate!. it's only 2 hours to skate, eat, and open presents, so that don't leave muck time for any other games!. you don't have to give goody bags!. The fun and cake is good enough for any kid and the parents won't mind!. Let the kid open the presents there!. Kids like to see if the b-day kid likes their present!. Chips juice and cake is good!. Just be sure to mention to the guests that they need to eat before they come!.
And tell them happy birthday for meWww@FoodAQ@Com

Pretty much let them do what they want!. Ask your children if they want to play games, or just skate!. You might try pizza, too, or in place of chips!. The kids will be fine without party favors, so long as you feed them well!. You may decide to do each child separately, start the boys of skating while the girls do pizza and cake and presents (kids expect their presents to be opened in front of them) and then switch off!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes!. parents give gifts and expect in return for their children to be entertained by your party!. 2 hours is not enough time for everything!.so i would not open gifts there!. i think you need pizza or hero not just chips

it will look cheap to the other parents!.!.!.why not have it at your house so you can spend more on party instead of rink rental!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i am not sure if you should combine the two parties together!.!. most siblings would not be to happy with that!.

but i think that you should give one of the kids and their frineds an hour on the rink and let the other play games!.!. and reverse when the hour is up, reverse!.

you should open gifts there, its a tradition

you probably dont need a goody bag!.!. your kids are a little old for it!.!.!. but maybe just some candy or somehitg

Eat: pizza cake chips and juice!.!. the normal party food everyone loves

good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

first learn how to SPELL
"throughing" is not a word
"throwing" is

whatever u do is fine!. whats the worst that could happen!.!.!. one of ur sons friends mothers isn't going to come up to you and say " my kid came to your party and you didn't give him a goody bag Whats wrong w/ you" ok so calm down and just do chips, juice and cake and thats fine!. no games!.!.!.usually the kids will end up making up their own game and you just have to make sure nothing bad happens :DWww@FoodAQ@Com

im 18 years old and i still love goody bags!.!.!.fill it with cheap candy from sams or some other value balk store!.!.!.if the party is at a skating rink the kids will find plenty of things to do!.!.after all it is a skating rink!.!.!.but for the most part you have great ideasWww@FoodAQ@Com

Sell one of the kids so the other can have a decent birthday!. >:(Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hopefully you're children know how to spell "throughing" better than you do!.!.!. throwing

I remember the skating rink!. You can do either!. You can let the children just skate, or you can play games, or both!.!.!. Both would probably be your best bet!.

If a parent is upset regarding why his or her child did not come home with a goody bag!.!.!. smack that person!. It's your children's party, if you want them, go for it!. If your kids want goody bags, go ahead!. If money is tight, it is by no means required!. Yes!. Juice, chips, and cake is totally fine!. Maybe pizza or something before the cake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have 12 year old twins and I did their birthday parties at a local rink a few times!. Our rink actually called us when it was time to go in for pizza and cake!. The birthday kids got to open their gifts there as well!. I ordered the pizza from there !.!.!.and made the cakes myself!. Since I wanted them to have individual parties at the same time I split the room!. Jordan's party on one side!.!.!.Karis's on the other!.
YES goody bags are a must!. Attending a party and skating is fun and it is one thing but bringing home a bag of treats is special!.
Good luck with it!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The skating should be fine!. Usually 2 hours is the average anyone would stick around to skate, bowl, and a bunch of other activities!. So buy games, if you already have some go ahead!.

The goody bag thing is not necessary, but if you could substitute it with something they would like a small something to hang onto for a memory of the birthday to put on a dresser!. The parents may expect one, but it doesn't really have to be there if you don't have the funds to do so!.

And the chips, juice, and cake would do!. Mabey some soda also, and a variety of chips so people have choices!. And make sure you ask your kids what type of cake they want!. Don't just buy a regular one!. I have been getting ice-cream cakes for the past few years!. They are really good!

Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would give the party a theme so that it will be much easier to plan for it!.
Since you are throwing the party for a girl and a boy you could give the party a carnival theme!. And you could have a game set up and your prize can be ice cream!. Then another one where the prize is cake!.!.!.so that the kids can feel like they are winning something but yet you don't have to spend any extra on nice prizes!. Goodie bags are not neccesary!. And also you could play limbo at the skating rink and make up games using the skating arena!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You might want to check and see if the roller rink is going to do games with the kids - like everyone skate backwards, and the hokey pokey!.!.!. !?!?!? If not, 2 hours is a long time for the 8 year olds to skate and socialize!. You might want to play some fun games on the rink, like a relay where you pop balloons at each end, or have to change into silly costumes and skate back!.!.!. off the rink you could play twister and simple card games for the age group!.

I don't expect my kids to bring anything home from a party, and we always open gifts with everyone there, it's exciting! Maybe not the best manners, but I tell the kids in advance how I expect them to open the card first, look the giver in the eye and say "thank you" sincerely, no matter the gift - just aknowledge someone else cared enough to think of them and come to their party!. Have fun! Whatever the kids do, do it with them, they will remember you skating more than anything else :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com
