My sister's birthday party- need easy party foods?!

Question:

My sister's birthday party- need easy party foods?

Hello, thanks for reading! I'm putting together a little birthday party for my sister. She's turning 26 (5 years older than I am). It's not big or anything, I don't think she's really a party animal kind of gal, so it's just me and a few family members. I think I've already decided what kind of cake to make (a large double-decker strawberry shortcake), but I thought it would be nice to have a few salty party foods availible for munching on as well. I have a couple of ideas, such as cheese fondue with crusty bread for dipping, and fried chicken bites. I would really appreciate additional ideas on ---simple--- party finger style foods. I only have a limited time to make them, so it would be nice if it were quick to make. I also will not have access to a oven, only a stove top and microwave. Thanks a lot for any help! -Autumn

Answers:
1.Cheese and cracker tray, buy the cheese that is already cut up.
2. Fruit tray with a dip or dips(like chocolate and caramel
3.vegi tray with ranch dressing
4.meat tray( go get some variety of lunch meat roll it up and put on the tray.
5. you can call like subway or larry's giant sub have them to make you a sub tray.
6.if pimento is liked in your family make pimento sandwiches and cut those up
7.party mints or variety of nuts
8. punch(get about 4-2liters of sprite and 4 packs of strawberry kool-aid and just a small amount of sugar and add all together, then mix, make sure you use a big big bowl for this.don't go over board with the sugar cause the kool-aid already has some sugar in it.this is a good punch to make, trust me they will like it.
9.heat up some little smokies and add bbq sauce over them.

you should have a little tray with cheese and crackers
or make about 10 sandwhiches and cut them in fourths!

Crispy Coconut Chicken Fingers
Deviled Eggs with Bacon
Totilla Spirals
Freeze Ahead Meatballs
Mandarin Orange Chicken
California Crab Toasts

One thing my sister always makes for our "girl" get togethers and it can be made ahead of time..
Chinese Chicken Salad
3 to 4 chicken breast
1 head lettuce, shedded
2 tablespoons almonds, slivered
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
4 green onions finely sliced
1/2 to 1 whole package won ton skins
oil for frying
Dressing Ingredients
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 tablespoons rice vinegar (reg. vinegar can be used)

Cook chicken, skin, bone, and cut into bite-sized peices.Combine lettuce, almonds, sesame seeds, and green onions in a large plastic bag. Cut won ton into strips and fry in small amount of oil until brown and crispy. Drain on paper towel. Combine remaining ingredients for dressing in a small container. Crush won ton and place in med size plastic bag. Once ready to eat, add won ton to lettuce, pour dressing into baggie. Toss and pour from bag to serve.

most of the markets have veggie trays with dip
try a slab of cream cheese with Major Grey's Chutney poured over it with crackers
salsa & chips

What always works for me and it's quick is a Round Pumpernickel bread hollowed out and filled with Spinach dip and you use the bread bits to dip. Also I do a tray of different veggies with a few different dips or you can just use ranch dressing as a dip along with cheese, crackers and a few cold cuts, pickles and so on. A Variety. Have fun!

Almost everyone likes Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip...even people who think they don't like veggies. This recipe by Alton Brown of the Food Network is one of the easiest and best I've tried. It can be totally prepared in the microwave. Fix ahead of time and then reheat. I do it all the time.

a punch bowl with a good punch would be great, ham pinwheels are always a hit. Just take some ham luncheon meat and spread with cream cheese and lay a scallion on top. then roll up the ham and slice into slices. or try wrapping those little smokie links in creasent rolls that you get in a can and place on a cookie sheet. Brush with an egg wash and bake till golden. and of course their are always the standbys like chips and dip, a bowl of salted peanuts, pretzels, cheese and crackers, raw veggies with a dip, pizza is always good, a bowl of m&ms is colorful and festive,

Mexican Layered Dip is always excellent and very easy to make!

Oooh there's TONS of easy things you can make: two of my favorites are

Stuffed Mushrooms & Bruschetta

Giada DeLaurentis on the Food Network just made something that are unlike any of that usually make:
you can go to Foodtv.com and in the recipe section type in stuffed mushrooms, you can pick out ones with the best rating and ones according to difficulty.

For the bruschetta it's so simply, you can buy a French Baguette or you can buy pre-cooked bruschetta bread. Cut the bread into one inch slices on an angle, put a little olive oil on them and bake them in the over at 400o for about 20 minutes or until golden.

Then dice up some tomatoes, garlic, basil and (if you want olives) and add extra virgin olive oil and salt & pepper to taste... put it in a nice bowl, put your bruschetta bread around it, and everyone can spoon some on.
(you can also look this one up on the food network website!)
