Fight night food ideas?!

Question:

Fight night food ideas?

We are hosting HBO PPV fight night at our house next sat and I need to come up with something to serve I rather not do a whole lotta cooking I prefer semi-homemade stuff but nothing too messy or nothing that needs to stay really hot to taste good. We will be feeding men, women and some kids so we need something substantial not just finger foods ect.

PLEASE HELP

I do this, and they go fast! (do not serve to those with cholesterol problems because of the egg)

Boil a couple of eggs, peel them, and let them cool a little, slice them down the middle, and remove the yolk.

Place yolk in a bowl, and mayo (miracle whip works great), salt and pepper to taste to the yolk and mix well.

Spoon the prepared yolk into the egg whites, and serve. The best part, they taste better at room temp. than hot!

My husband and his friends love them!

Have fun!

Lil SMokies in BBQ Sauce in a crockpot
BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs
premade Lasagna from Costco
Veggie Tray
Chips and Dip
Green Salad
Rolls
Brownies for dessert - I made these for a Partylite party and they were devoured

chips
some sour sausage
and beer

I think my ideas kind of have a " fight' theme :
meatballs and sausage with long rolls, tossed salad, lunch meat deli tray,
and for dessert a cream pie for those "pie in the face" fights

Go to your favourite deli and ask them to make up a couple of platters for you with all the things you enjoy. It is a bit of expense, but worth it, because then all of you can enjoy the party and not have you or others stuck in the kitchen being galley slaves. You need to spend time socialising with the guests not to be the unpaid maid. Give yourself a night off. Enjoy.

Cheers,

Lisa

Why not take some help from the store and buy cheese and crackers and chips and salsa and then something like frozen pizza or frozen chicken fingers? If you don't cook, why kill yourself? If you want something more substantial and you have a slow cooker, make a pot of chili, or:

Make a lasagna with jarred tomato sauce. You don't even need to cook the noodles in advance. Really! It works. Lasagna can feed a crowd too and kids love it. Buy some bagged lettuce and some bottled Caesar dressing and plenty of frozen garlic bread. Voila! Lasagna for eight!

allrecipes.com has a recipe for a really good buffalo chicken dip. You could use a crock pot for it and serve with french bread. My toddlers also love guacamole. Homemade hot pretzels are good too, but a little work. You could also do some cold pizzas. I get the boboli pizza crust, spread with garlic hummus, then do chopped greek veggies on it and feta cheese, olives, etc. Ive also done this with a thai style, and once again buffalo chicken style. Pilsbury's also got some good recipes on line for stuff you can do with crescent rolls. These always go over good, and are little mess, and filling.

One big pot of good chicken curry with rice. Add some bread, french bread and Indian nan/roti/chapaties. Serve potato or pineapple or cucumber or tomato yogurt raita on the side.

Super Salad Bar- with lots of grilled chicken, shrimp, meats and cheeses.

You can make it a combo with fajitas, and grill and marinate steak strips for the guys.

Bowls of all the normal game time snacks, a crockpot or two of meatballs, lil smokies, hot dips.

Lots of drinks in an ice bucket

Brownies and cookies for dessert. OR if you want to make a big sheet cake and decorate it like a boxing ring, that would be pretty fun. Here's an idea.:

What about a Taco Bar, or burrito bar, or fajita bar? Hot dogs are always a bit hit, just have all the toppings available: kraut, chili, etc.

Chips and dip
Cheese and Crackers
Meatball subs
Chicken tenders with dipping sauce
Pizza
Cupcakes and brownies

Deviled eggs are easy, cheap and the first to go. Celery, cauliflower, broccoli, chips and a couple kinds of dip like salsa, onion soup, and ranch. A big can of chili and some hot dogs from Sam's or Smart and Final.

chips dip barq buns drinks pie potatoes salad

think super bowl foods---

hot wings, fried chicken, bar-b-que, pizza, sandwiches, dips, salads, chips, breads, popcorn, nuts, etc.
ask your friends to bring some dishes
make and provide the simple dishes
and get take-out for the rest
