Event planning ideas?!

Question:

Event planning ideas?

I went on a job interview as an event planner. the company would like me to plan a "fake" party at my favorite restaurant so they can see my style and personality before hiring me. I live in NYC so it has to be something eclectic and fashionable. I need to make a proposal of all aspects for the event from food/DJ/music/theme. Any ideas? I would like to do a product launch party at this great fondue restaurant... but cant think of a theme/product that would go with fondue.

Answers:
Just be yourself... be creative. Ask the owner of the restaurant to cook good food and ask for his ideas.

Anything with strippers would be good. Make sure you give clients a choice between beef, chicken and fish and have live, boring music.

The product launch party could be the theme.

how about new blackberrys the all in one phones ,you know how its small bits of everything like fondue, and u carry it around and it goes on your pocket ect lol just a thought anyway try the link for some ideas

Coming up with these ideas is what makes a good event planner.

Why don't you "launch" an old cheese product, like fontina or gouda or brie, they three are perfect for melting (into a fondue) accept herbs and spices readily, and never break under prolonged heat. I am sure you could think of appropriate fake gift baskets to give your guests, and perhaps a little wine tasting as a side attraction, along with some extremely handsome waitpeople and good music.

You do exhibit resourcefulness in getting a job done, I have to applaud you for setting aside the ego. I must say though, most people who enter this field do so as they are just bursting with ideas and need a place to unleash them.

hmmm that is quite a dilemma you have. I would take into account the style of the restaurant. If it is formal, do something like a white or black themed party. Do everything in the color of choice. Play a softer or classical music style. If it is electic take that into account and make it more funky. Hope you are able to come up with something, sounds like a great job opportunity! Good luck!
