90s theme sweet sixteeeeen?!

Question:

90s theme sweet sixteeeeen?

for my party, im changing my theme completely and having a 90s theme. its in august and im having it on my deck with about 20 people from 7-11 pm. im decorating with different toys, such as barbies, furby, magic 8 ball, stuff like that. for music, im playing the stuff that i used to listen to... nsync, backstreet boys, old britney spears, old christina aguilera, lfo, sclub7, ateens, etc. food is chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese. drinks are probably kool aid and orange soda (because of keenan and kel) and a variety of other kinds of soda too. theres gonna be lots of candy out, like warheads, ring pops, gushers, etc. im putting out my nsync trivia board game and twister.
is this idea good? should i have people dress in 90s fashion? other games? other food? other music? decorating suggestions? anything is appreciated. thanks!

Answers:
I like your ideas and suggestions for your party =) especially with decortating the place with different toys and the music. if I were you, I'd have people dress up in different styles that were in during the 90s. such as babydoll-dresses, flannel, skechers (im not sure if that was more during the 90s or the 2000s), midriff-baring shirts, fanny-packs (hey they were in then) Guess Jeans, and so on. I also heard that mehndi was very much in during the 90s. Also, dont forget about putting posters up of different teen-pop stars during the 90s such as *Nsync, Britney, Christina, Jessica, Mandy, and so on.

Also I would reccommend adding a few grunge tunes like Nirvana, Hole, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden into your playlists, as they were popular in the 90s too.

Good Luck! =) If you need anything else. i'd be happy to help

Myself, personal experience

if so make sure every one has a big hair do (teased hair)
bandanas around the wrist and tight acid washed jeans
love the idea

hope your party turns out great

ur doing late 90's anyways don't go with anything about what that last chick said about acid wash jeans and teased hair...thats so 80's....anyways 90's grunge tunes are a definate.....90's for me were Techno and grunge style..very wide leg jeans , black hair ...ahhh the 90's(my teens)

Interesting idea- I've never seen it before. Since I was in my teens and early twenties in the 90's it's pretty frightening that it's already a flashback theme for parties. LOL.

A few more ideas:
-Make it a dress up event, people come in Movie or TV costume (Claire from Clueless, Ace Ventura, a Friends character, etc)
-Instead of just setting out the toys- have a TOY BONFIRE- see if you can get a backyard after dark bonfire (probably need a permit from the town) and have EVERYONE bring their old toys to throw in. That would be pretty cool.
-Kareoke machine- you can either rent one or buy one for under $100. Maybe a friend has one you can borrow. Obviously- song choices would be restricted to pre-2000... Nothing quite like an off key Hit me Baby One More time.
-Take pictures, have an online scrapbook
-Invitations in the shape of a Plaid Shirt, a Bill Clinton head, OJ's white bronce, whatever
-Do a gameshow- Jeopardy was big- of pop culture. There are lots of sites online
-Show a movie - you can rent a giant white screen. I suggest Clueless, The Mask , Ace Ventura, or Titanic

Have fun!

It's a very cute idea. You could watch some cheesy music videos on Yahoo Launchcast or on You Tube.
I suggest that you also get the Macarena and dance to it of course, some Aaron Carter music, and 98 degrees music.
Hope you have fun!

yes, I think that is a very original and good idea. Go with it and just be sure to go through the party checklist.
