A naked Party !! Of course if is just for the 2 of you, bake a cake, eat dinner, watch some movies together, dance .... all naked.... light, candles.... mm... nice !
Oh dont forget the heels and make up !! all pretty !!!!
Congrats !
For my fortieth, my wife took me out with a few friends for dinner. After she'd fed me a few drinks, they cleared the dance floor and sat me down dead center for everybody to see. On came the music "You Can Keep Your Hat On," out came the stripper, and there my drunk a** sat trying to figure out just how to behave.
...a Perscription (Rx) for Viagra....?
If you have videos of him growing up - or maybe just some still photos (put on a dvd w/music or something) - take them to your local movie theatre. Sometimes, depending on your location, they will let you rent a specific theatre for get-togethers etc. and play your memories on the big screen (low cost).
Even if its just the two of you...it may be fun for ya.
You could head to the theatre like its a regular old movie night...then surprise him when he's the main attraction.
Don't forget the popcorn!
The way to a man's heart is through is stomach as the old saying goes. Fix him his favorite meal. Agree with everything he says (for his birthday, anyway). Even if you are staying home, get dressed up, fix your hair and makeup. Give him a bath; or take one together. Make some undergarments for you and him out of fruit roll ups in advance and put them on after you both bathe. Then go on from there....
If you have kids, find someone who will keep them overnight like your best friend or grandma and grandpa.
Don't give him a party, especially for the big 4-0. I know how he feels. The best thing you could perhaps would be to make his favorite dinner. You will spend less than going out and it can be just the two of you at home. If his favorite dinner is too expensive, take elements from the dinner and re-fashion a "luxe" meal out of it without breaking the bank.
When I turned 40 we took a short sight seeing trip and spent the time alone together. Since budget is a problem pack a picnic lunch and dine alfresco in the local park. The best part is that you will be together and hopefully for a lot more years to come. The simplest solutions are always the best. Enjoy his day with him.
i once walked home around my birthday, and my wife had 10 giant shaving cream pies on the dining room table next to a chair. i took a seat, and she proceeded to smash them all over. loved it! one of my favorite birthdays ever
You can look at home videos, old pictures, talk about everything the two of you did since you were married, have a candle lit dinner just the two of you or even better, watch the sun go down at night together.
