What a fun Idea!.!.!.I may have to steal that one!.

Well, Carmel Apples or maybe a carmel fondue and stuff involving pumpkins like, toasted pumpkin seeds, pies involving the local harvest!. Maybe go to the local farmers market (if it is still on) and use veggies that are fresh!.

also, some things that are 'kid' activities can be fun with just adults so even pumpkin carving can be on the agenda!. or simply used for decoration!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As to time, end of September or beginning of October is usually when the leaves change!. As to a menu it depends if you are going casual or elegant!.

I know in my house, I have done grilled chicken, over pasta with Alfredo sauce and Caesar salad, plus a garlic bread stick!. For dessert I have done a white chocolate pie, with fresh seasonal fruit topping!. As to the drink, you need to see if your guest are drinkers, then maybe a nice white, rose, or red wine of your choice!. If not all your guest drink, then offer them a choice of something like tea or sparkling grape juice!.

You could also do a kabob party, which would incorporate your root veggies!. You could also do some fruit kabobs to off set all the veggies you would be using!. That way you would have sweet and savory!.

As for a center piece, look in some of your favorite magazines for ideas!. One of my favorites for center piece ideas is Everyday with Rachel Ray, or All You which has some really cute ideas!. All You can also provide great menu ideas, that are really affordable and can be found most anywhere!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I got married Oct 12 last year and was totally bummed that the leaves had NOT yet started turning colors in Western PA!. Where are you located!? Depending on the weather, the leaves will turn colors at different times each year!. There are websites which will tell you about when to expect peak color foliage!.
Decor: buy some faux colored leaves and scatter across table!. Use a pumpkin for the base of a flower arrangement!.

Drink ideas: Spiced Apple Cider with cinnamon stick, Pumpkin Spiced Coffee, Pumpkin Cosmo

Food ideas: Think comfort food- roasted potatoes, turkey, etc

I would say do a mid October party because once you get into late Oct you have Halloween parties and November - Thanksgiving!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

-Freshly toasted sourdough rolls
-Chicken breast with a smoky-tasting marinade or stuffed with apples, or slow-smoked pork barbecue and beef brisket
-Walnut, beet, and blue cheese salad made with spinach or endive, and a light vinagrette to go on top
-An eggplant side dish
-Mashed potatoes with your favourite fall herbs
-Apple, sweet potato, and/or pecan pies
-Brownies
-Serve apple cider, alcohol optional, or red wine

also, part of the "harvest" could be asking guests to bring a favourite dish of their own!.

Scatter some crunchy leaves around the dinner table and make sure to set out a warm tablecloth in brown or red!.

Where exactly are you having this party!? Because the best fall-themed party I've ever been to involved a bonfire!. It was fun and we were all toasty in the chilly weather!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think the end of September or beginning of October is best!. After that, people get busy with Halloween, Thanksgiving and whatever their winter holiday is!.!.!.!.!.!. I love the idea of APPLES as a theme!.!.!. bushels of apples, apple scented candles!.!.!.!. fresh Apple Cider, Calvados or Apple Jack to drink !.!.!.!. Pork Loin with cooked apples (chunky, and not quite applesauce) !.!.!. Cheesecake with Apple Pie filling on top; or Apple Strudel !.!.!.!.!. But, you need more courses; so maybe a Pumpkin Soup to start; Crisp Green Salad with Balsamic Vignarette and mandarin oranges & carmelized almonds; Waldorf or Citrus/Apple Fruit Salad !.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A lot of harvest crews I have worked with in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas would celebrate the end of the harvest season with prime rib!. It's a bit pricy, but for the 15-20 man crew three or four prime rib roasts, baked new potatoes, green bean casaroll, no bake cheese cake, fresh hot rolls, pasta salad (because my mother makes pasta salad for pretty much every occasion), salad, a fresh veggie tray, pumkin, pecan, and sweet potato pie!. That's what we did at least!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
