Hi,

Next weekend i will be having my partners brother and his new girlfriend overnight!.
If it is good weather we will have a bbq and if not i will cook something!.!.!.!.
I wanted any hostess tips, fininshing touches, things that make everything a little more special, they will be having our room so i will declutter it and have the best bedding etc!.!.!.!.
I want to make a good impression without looking too tryhard / pretentious and without spending too much!.

If i cook i was thinking of comething like french style roast chicken (with olive oil lemon garlic and fresh herbs de provence), with creamed potatoes and fresh veg/ salad!.
Homemade dark chocolate mousse for dessert!.!.!.(!?)

Any tips !?!?

Answers:
Keep everything they would need readily available for them!. Somethings can be embarassing to have to ask for!. Keep a good stock of toilet paper, baby wipes (you never know!.!.!.), clean towels, soap, spare toothbrush!. Keep a vase of fresh flowers in your room on a nightstand or the dresser as well as a small bowl of chocolates!.

Have a nice centerpiece, nothing too big though!. Simple elegance!. If you have any cloth napkins bring those out!. Keep paper napkins readily available though!. Buy a nice wine if you like to drink!. Have an assortment of cheeses as an appetizer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would also put a small basket in the room for them with shampoo, body wash, lotion etc!.!. that is a nice touch! You can get travel sizes of all of these types of things at the Body Shop or stores like that! Maybe toss in a nice CD too!.
Your menu sounds great and kudos to you for already having a back up plan in case it rains out the bbq idea!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put some fresh flowers in the bedroom and put out some nice toiletries in the bathroom for them to use!. Make sure you have a nice selection of soft and alcoholic drinks in too!. The dinner sounds nice!. Have you thought about breakfast!? Make sure you've nice coffee and tea!. I usually do cheese and ham croissants (in the oven) or pancakes with a selection of fruits, crispy bacon and maple syrup!. Though they may prefer a good fry up!. Some fresh orange juice might be nice too!.

The best tip I could give however is to relax and enjoy yourself!. If you do that your guests will relax too!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds like you already got it together, girl!. My only advice is to take some time to enjoy your company!. Do as much in advance as you can so you aren't stuck in the kitchen while everyone else is having fun! The best way to look like you're not trying too hard is to just be yourself and go with the flow!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds good, but you might want a veggie/dip tray for beforehand, maybe with drinks !.!.!.!.!.!. and make one of those egg souffle dishes, that you refrigerate overnight, so you can pop it into the oven for breakfast, and just serve it with fruit !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

serve dinner naked , your partners brother would enjoy thatWww@FoodAQ@Com

sounds good to me !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.check what time they will arrive as you may wish to have some "snacks" available or make a soup maybe tomato and basil with crusty bread and pate for a lite lunch !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. also have some toiletries available in the room your letting them use plus some nice fluffy towels each it always looks good and possibly a small vase of fresh flowers from the garden !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.or something like freesias if you haven't a garden as they always smell nice and welcoming

breakfast can be a lite one with bucksfizz greek yogurt and fresh fruit toast ,rolls muffins or croissants with preserves and tea or coffee(make your own choices)!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.go out for sunday lunch you don't want to be cooking all weekend !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.or have a picnic but most of all enjoy itWww@FoodAQ@Com

You're a hostess, not a hotel!. Putting toiletries in the room might be insulting if you never met the people before!.
Just relax, have several back up plans!. you can't go wrong with asking them questions about when they grew up, especial since they are siblings, you'll learn about both of them that way, and it will help you gauge what to talk about next!. If you're really worried, try having a few drinks on hand, they don't have to be alcoholic, unless you like alcohol!.
I'd definitely do a red wine with the cake too!.
But it sounds like you've got it pretty well covered, and you know you're way around a kitchen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
