My friend and I are hosting a party. Got any snack suggestions?!

Question:

My friend and I are hosting a party. Got any snack suggestions?

It's going to be from about 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and around 15 people will be there. We've already decided that we need cookies, chips, drinks, etc. but aren't sure how much to get of each. Also, how much do cookies (with icing in the middle like Oreos, but not necessarily name brand) cost? Any other snack suggestions for a teen party would be helpful. Thanks!

By the way, it's on St. Patrick's Day.

Let's keep this simple! We're hoping we can just buy some stuff, open it up and serve. And no one's really given me an idea about how much I should buy yet....

Well, you want to figure on spending about $2.50 to $3.99per package of cookies unless you can get them on sale. That goes for name brand and store brand. If you're planning on having about 15 people, you'll want to have plenty of snacks and stuff to drink on hand. Cookies are fine, but also think about chips and dips. You can make a really good (and easy) dip with velveeta cheese and salsa or canned chili. Just mix together and heat in the microwave. Also think about a 7 layer dip which is usually refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, black olives, salsa, and guacamole (or any other taco toppings, layered together).

For drinks, choose fruit punches and sodas. You can find lots of ideas for drink recipes on the internet that don't include alcohol in them that would be a hit for your party.

You may also want to have a "solid" food to eat as well, something like chili, or sloppy joe's would work great since they are easy to make. You can throw it all in a crock pot to keep them warm during your party.

Of course, you can always ask your guests to pitch in and bring their favorite party snacks. It would help cut the costs for you, and will also take away the "stress" of trying to feed everyone.

pizza
soft pretzels with different kinds of dip (chocolate, cheese, etc)
hoagies
lots and lots of soda

just get a bunch of different finger foods ( small sandwiches, potato skins, pizza bites, fruits, cheeses, pigs in a blanet, chips, assorted cookies, and candies) Anything really

MAKE IT A FONDUE PARTY YOU CAN ADD, DIFFRENT CHEESES TO MAKE FONDUE....AND SLICE FRENCH BREAD, DIFFRENT VEGGIES, CHIPS AND PRETZELS,, SIMPLE ORZO SALAD OF MUSHROOM AND RED PEPPER,,,MAKE OR BUY SMALL CUPCAKES.MAKE A PEACH OR RASPBERRY PUNCH FOR NON ALCHOHOLIC DRINK. ENJOY

I often make tortilla roll-ups. Fast & easy.
You need Flour tortillas, cream cheese, ranch dressing, chopped olives, good turkey or ham (from the deli- sliced thin) green onions (optional) mix alittle ranch w/ the cream cheese till creamy, spread on tortilla, put olives on that, then your meat, press down & roll. slice into bite size pieces. They look good too!

Everyone loves muffins and donunts so you can't go wrong with a classic blueberry or chocolate chip muffin. Costco sells this new thing and it is premaid muffin batter which may be something that you want to look into. I have never actually tasted the batter, I just know they have it. Have fun at the party!!

Fast answer to your cookie question. See if you are lucky and if there's a Trader Joe's near you. They do their own version of an oreo that are much cheaper and far better than any other imitation I've seen. All different flavors/fillings. The chocolate cookie/chocolate filling is especially good. I think a big box (3 rows of cookies) is $2.99. At first I was thinking 1.99 but think that's wrong.

If there is one near you they have some yummy snacks that are a little different than the market so I'd get a few of those. http://www.traderjoes.com/ Hope you have one!

If not I think you have the right idea...keep is simple. Is it for any occassion? That might make me add something special for that. Another good place to go to is BJ's or any warehouse store. Even if you don't have a membership, you can get a one day pass at most and pay 5% more. There you can get huge bags of chips etc for the same price as the small ones in the market. And then you'll have plenty and not worry.

How about one more food item..maybe frozen mini pizza's or even a big pizza cut up. At BJ's you can get a HUGE pizza with everything on it for $7.99. You could bake that and cut it up into smaller pieces. I'd walk around their fozen food case and see if anything sounds good. Like they have popcorn chicken. I'd get one thing like that, something that's a snack but has some food in it too. And given the hour I think one is more than enough along with some chips etc. Another thought is they have big packages of sweets, so you might do better to get a big package of mini frosted cupcakes. Sorry not sure how much they are...been trying to avoid them lately lol. And there's always munchkins from Dunkin Donuts...they are pretty cheap and yummy!

The more I think about it the more I think a BJ's or Sam's club is the way to go. Easy and cheap!

Have fun!

Oreo balls

1 pack of cream cheese

mix together till completely moistened roll into bite sized balls in chocolate keep refridgerated
