Might as well shoot yourself

Invite friends to join you in a "swim naked in the community pool" party.

For my mother-in-law's 50th bday we had a 50's themed party. Everyone dressed up in 50's attire and we played 50's music. It was a blast!

I think a nice surprise birthday party would do with lots of friends.

Last year for my dad's 50th, we went and rented the back of this pizza place/resturant and invited his friends and family over to celebrate. There was a buffet and cake. And my dad and a wonderful time.

You could do something like that if there's something in your area. Rent out a place, or perhaps if your home is large enough do it there. *it was in january, so our garage wasn't a good choice*.

Invite friends and family members....we had pictures out of my dad....

A 50th birthday party. Sounds interesting. Well, there are really required some pie and a cake... maybe some pizza will be good too.
About the cake... a fruit cake or a chocolate cake will be delicious. Some pie... what pie you like, it's your birthday!
Next, some good music would be good. And a free room to dance.
Now, all you must to do is to invite your friends, and let the party begin!

how about the year they were born party, get some of the old fav, music, a cake in the shape of an old vinyl disc,(record)and get everyone to dress up in the theme of the 50,s could be fun and if you are stuck for gift idea,s how about 50 small gifts in a fancy box or bag.

Know for sure if those crap "over the hill" joke things would go over well with this person, I'd say stay far away from them.
Joking isn't all bad, when my aunt turned 50 her sisters collected some things (in numbers of 50) that poked fun at some of the old lady habits she was picking up...50 saved bread bags for example.

For my dad's we went to a home basketball game at his alma mater and all went out to dinner (he was asking everyone to come along) b/c it all boils down to good times and good people.

Get a nice reception place, and get the mariachis plus friends, families, relatives, and a cake, dinners. Enjoy the buffet and celebrate those 50th years of remembrances with them. Select a person for a speech. A person that talk about their anegdotas, the years of experiences through their life and bless them. Decorate that place with balooms, plants, etc. Give something as a give to those who are invited to the celebration.

Think back to 50 years ago- Mickey Mouse Club, Space Race just starting to heat up. Look at old cartoons, Tv shows movies, Sports teams. Make it kind of kooky. On my 50th b-day, I went to a ball game with my parents and little brother9 of course I also went on a tour of all west coast baseball parks and Disneyland on it's 50th b-day)

I threw a party for my partner's 50th. I HATE over the hill parties. SO OVERDONE. I tried to celebrate the person's growing up years, and the decade they were born.

He has been in food biz for 30 years, so we had a food theme. We played "Which is older...." Him or.... Spam Him... or Tang.... Him or .....Frosted Flakes Him or TV Dinners. Takes some online research, but each item had a story, and after the crowd voted --- someone in the crowd got up and read the actual date and history.

Maybe they love TV -- which is older -- Birthday person or ... Gunsmoke...... person or....... My Favorite Martian...... person or Car 54 where are you?

Also -- did "child of the 50s theme" with a big poster with nostalgic pictures -- toys , tv, music, ads, cars, foods of the 50s.

Casino theme maybe
