What colors promote appetite?!

Question:

What colors promote appetite?

I have heard that blue table cloths make meat look un-appetizing. Do you know of any other little tricks?

Answers:
The packaging on anything you buy has had the color scheme carefully worked out to encourage you to buy it. Restaurant color themes are often designed around appetite promoting colors such as reds and oranges and colors designed to effect how long you will want to stay in the particular room depending on the kind of turnover they need. the colors of your food can increase or destroy your appetite.

Blue is one of the most popular colors, it is also one of the least appetizing. Blue food is rare in nature. Food researchers say that when humans searched for food, they learned to avoid toxic or spoiled objects, which were often blue, black, or purple. When food dyed blue is served to study subjects, they lose appetite.

Green, brown, and red are the most popular food colors. Red is often used in restaurant decorating schemes because it is an appetite stimulant.

Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity. It is highly accepted among young people. As a citrus color, orange is associated with healthy food and stimulates appetite. Orange is the color of fall and harvest.

White is often associated with low weight, low-fat food, and dairy products.

make your MEAL colorful... not only does it look amazing but the more variety of colors you eat, the healthier it is! If you have a meal that is only one color, try using a table cloth that has complimentary value

blue and orange
green and red
purple and yellow

happy eating =]

Good colors are Green and Red;-

If you served a salad you would use crisp green lettuce ,then maybe , green and red pepper, sliced boiled eggs and a few black olives.

I think a nice white table cloth is in much better taste...but you could use colored napkins!

red ive heard its red

I used to work at an italian resturant and that's where I first heard of colors making you hungry. Like McDonalds is red and yellow. At the restaurant we used to sautee onion and garlic in a saucepan and make the place smell like that. It would make us really hungry! I would get a lighter color table cloth. I would use bright colors, just not like one solid dark color, like the blue table cloth. Maybe a fruit bowl in the middle of your table would help? Banannas, apples, oranges. Try that.

Strange, but smart question. I guess red would connote "juicy" and green "healthy and good for you." Black would definitely put one off I guess.I never really gave a thought to co lours encouraging appetite

any as long as it smells good

for me, anything . hahaha. but really it all depends on what you're serving. different colours bring out the definition in whatever youre making.

yellow and red...trust me

I heard that most McDonald's, Burger Kings, & Wendys use Red as one of their colors bcause it makes u hungry/want more of their food...IDK. I guess it's a ketchup thing!
