I'm bartending for a party and I'd like some info on the whole process?!

Question:

I'm bartending for a party and I'd like some info on the whole process?

This is a professional. It's casual, I'm going to arrive early to greet the host of the party, and then the next thing would be to begin cutting garnishes and then check to see where everything is stocked for the party, and from there does anyone have any extra tid bits? Is there anything I should not do ?

Answers:
put a big empty glass on the bar near you.. before the guests arrive put a few $s in it.. this will be your tip jar...have fun and good luck!

bartended a few years

don't go at all

Do not Freak Out at the Party,Be friendly and light hearted.
It's a party not a wake, you know enjoy yourself while you work.
Tips are appreciated. So, have a tip jar, most people will see it a throw something in it.Make some new invention on the drinks menu.Like smoothies w/h alcohol.Call it a Skull Shot.
Or Brain Freeze...

Consult with the person hiring you. Especially about using a tip jar. This may not be not acceptable to him/her. Also ask if there will be under age guests at this event because you may be responsible if you serve them alcohol. Be amicable with the guests but don't be overbearing or "too" friendly. After all, you are an employee not a guest. Serve drinks in an efficient and timely manner.

Make sure that you bring your own bar tools, beer opener and wine tool, knife & cutting board a lot of bartenders for private events forget these things.

be sure you have the drink bible
