Having a hawaiian theme baby party?!

Question:

Having a hawaiian theme baby party?

It's not a luau theme. I want to make it really fun with Lei's and stuff but i also want to implement the natural elements of the big island. what are some fun cake ideas? main course? decorations?

Answers:
I would go to orientaltrading.com for the party favors. For your meal I would see if your local bakery couldn't make a coconut or pineapple flavored cake and decorate it in a hawaiian theme. When my Mom went to Hawaii she said that pineapple was served with everything. So you could have Baked ham with pineapple.

Decotrations and stuff. Try "Oriental trading .com"

If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking out Oriental Trading - they have both a website and catalog sales. They have tons of great party decorations at a fairly low price.

For a cake, you could attempt a hibiscus flower, coconut drink, or ukulele. For the main course, why not do Hawaiian shishkabobs? You could do meat/vegetables for the adults and fruit for the children if they're not interested in what the adults are eating.

What is the age of the kids involved and when are you having it? If you go to a party supply store you could get some blow up palm trees, leis, and other decorations with a Hawaiian theme. My favorite is Party City. you could get flowers to put in the girl's hair. If the kids like fruit, you can make a jello mold with fruit in it and decorating it. You can also get some plain tan fabric and shred up the bottom to look like hula skirts. If you have time too, check out the Oriental Trading company. You can find lots of ideas and decorations there. The prices are pretty good too! The food you can decorate the cake to look like it came from Hawaii. Serve fruit and juices, anything the kids might enjoy. Have fun and let me know how it went.

well you should serve smoothies as drinks! Also, this cake is called "Tropical Dream Cake" and its sooo delicious. Would go very well with your theme!!

1/2 cup butter or margarine, cut into pieces
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chopped pecans (optional) or nuts (optional)

Grease 9 by 13 inch baking pan.
Dump into pan and spread evenly in this order: cherry pie filling, undrained pineapple, dry cake mix.
Arrange pieces of butter on top.
Pour 1/2 cup melted butter over cake mix.
Top with 1 cup flaked coconut and 1 cup chopped pecans.
DO NOT MIX!
Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour.
