What kinds of snacks and meals are best for a BEACH environment?!

Question: What kinds of snacks and meals are best for a BEACH environment!?
I'm planning a little get-together at the beach shortly, and I would love to hear about any recipes or ideas on snacks/ light meals that are best for a beach environment!. The foods don't necessarily have to be easy to make - I just want yummy food!

also, what kinds of containers should I pack these snacks/meals in!? How do I keep the food fresh in such hot weather!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Hard Bars & Bites - While there are some chewy baked snacks bars we happily chew on in air-conditioned environments, the crunchy ones are your best bet for outdoor eating!. You should also avoid ones with coating (like peanut butter or chocolate), 'cuz those'll become sadly misshapen once the heat hits 'em!.

Fresh Fruit - Go for firm, easy-to-eat fruits like pears and apples!. Skip anything sticky, soft, or hard to handle, like melon, berries, oranges, and kiwi!. The sticky stuff will leave you a mess, the softies could easily be smooshed in your beach bag, and the tough-to-peel stuff will leave you more likely to reach for a cookie than pick a fight with your fruit!.

Sadly, tuna salad and turkey slices won't last long outside the cool comfort of your fridge!. Stock up on low-cal dehydrated protein-y snacks, like soy jerky, turkey jerky, and beef jerky!.

As for how you should pack them, if you are bringing Turkey Slices or Tuna salad, I'd just bring a cooler, put some ice in, stack waterbottles , pop cans etc ontop of the ice and just lay the the container of Salad above the waterbottles so that they can keep cool without getting wet!. The downfall is that when the ice melts, the container might get wet but the food should be out of harms way!.

on our last beach picnic i packed turkey, avocado, and bacon sandwiches on a good crusty bread like ciabatta, or anything a little different than the usual boring sliced variety, with spreadable garlic and onion cheese!. i also packed a store-bought Lorraine quiche(aka ham and cheese) that i popped in the oven right before leaving and wrapped in foil to stay warm!. for salad we had a ceasar salad that you can sprinkle craisins, slivered almonds, and parm!.cheese on , and also fruit salad: melon , grapes, and strawberries ( i made the melon into little balls with a melon baller)!. to drink: PLENTY of cold water and some sprakling lemonade( it was in a pretty champagne type bottle, so it looked a little fancy! alos found in the supermarket's soda aisle), and for dessert i stopped at the supermarket bakery fridge case where you can purchase little individual mini fruit tarts, or mini cakes!. everything was last minute and the sandwhiches were easy to assemble at the beach!. Be sure to pack some wet napkins or baby wipes incase of sand, the right knives to slice things, and a plastic bag for trash!. i'm not at all a great cook, but my boyfriend ( 6'4''/290lb football player!) loved all of it!!!! a nice presentation also makes everyone think you put alot more effort in than really required!! good luck and enjoy!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I terms of cold snacks this is what I do!.

I take to tupperware or plastic containers that allow one to fit into another - and I freeze the two containers with one inside the other!. Place the larger one inside the smaller one - fill the larger one with water till the smaller one is just afloat!. Put a weight (silverware will do) and freeze it over night for a hard freeze!.

Its good for salads, fruit, and dressing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

pasta salads in tupperware
sandwiches wrapped individually
fruit, small bags of chips & pretzels
drinks in one cooler, food in another with ice
I rinse and wipe off the drink cans so that the ice can be eaten

my mom used to take a hand dishwashing soap bottle, put a bit in there, add water and it was handy to wash hands without facilities!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You always want to be sure to bring something that can easily be eaten [and hidden] from the birds!.

Try sandwiches, fruit salads, trail mix, pretzles!.!.!.small snack foods like that!.

Anything cold is great for the beach!.!.!.I would HIGHLY suggest the fruit salad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Smores

Barbequing (burgers, hot dogs)
