Is it okay to use a scented candle for a small dinner party or is it better to use a neutral candle scent?!

Question: Is it okay to use a scented candle for a small dinner party or is it better to use a neutral candle scent!?
Answers:
I wouldn't use a scented candle for several reasons:

1!. if you cook a delicous homecooked meal you take away from the natural smell of your food, that is going to make your guests enjoy the food even more
2!. you don't know if any of your guests has allergies or asthma!. I for instance cough and sneeze non stop when visiting people who either use too much perfume or if they have scented candles around!. It just makes me not want to come back to that house, no matter how much I like the people!.
3!. you don't know what chemicals they have used in the scented candles (unless it is organic)!. Oftentime they use all sorts of chemicals that really shouldn't be inhaled!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Neutral is better!. If you have a scented candle, you will smell the candle more than the food, and it will take away from your dining experience!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You want your guest to enjoy the food and the scent of some candles would not be pleasurable to everyone especially while eating!. Best to go with neutral candles!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm with everyone else - unscented!. Especially if you are pairing nice wines with your meal!. And to be an even bigger kill-joy - the scent of fresh flowers can really mess up delicate foods and wines!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think its better to use non scented just because not everyone will llike the same smell, plus after a while a smell (especially sweet) can become annoying/sickly and can effect the taste of the foodWww@FoodAQ@Com

To accompany a dinner, allow the food to stand alone without the scent of a candle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Perhaps a light vanilla scented candle would be pleasant and not be verwhelming if anything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, I think I would!. Because you know how people are!. What one persons likes the others hate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
