Ideas what to do for dinner promotion?!

Question:

Ideas what to do for dinner promotion?

I'm hosting a dinner for my husband's recent promotion. I have no clue what to do besides let everyone eat! We aren't having a big crowd, 35-40 people tops. I just don't want people sitting there bored, is there anything I can do to have everyone (who all don't know each other) interact in some way?

Answers:
You can force people to be social by doing an interactive supper...like a fondue party or kabob party.
For a fondue party, sit out steak, chicken, and veggies around 3 or 4 fondue pots filled with olive oil, and for dessert have chocolate fondue with lots of fruit, cookies, pretzels, ect.
For a kabob party, place prepared steak, shrimp, chicken, veggies, and skewers for guests to assemble themselves, buffet-style.
It's fun and easy...

One of my best parties was an asian cook your own. For about $15 each, I bought gas table burners (from a chinatown store) and put large woks on them, filled with fish or chicken or beef stock.

I put out tons of sliced raw meats and vegetables and bought a heap of mini strainers / scooped wire baskets about 1/2 cups size (asian ones again from the same store).

I had steamed rice from a couple of rice cookers on the tables.

every one cooked their own bits and peices in the boiling stock woks and served them on rice.

I added sauces in dishes.

At the end, I put noodles in the woks, and we all drank soup (but it depends on how many people will have their fingers in it..... could be yuk)

Good luck. Must be a mean promotion!
