Shutes and Ladders for sure, Pin the Tail on The Donkey, get a pinata for the kids to hit outside and lots of balloons. For the food theme, candy that we loved as kids growing up in the 50's came from the local 5 and 10 cent store:
1. Licorice whips
2. Bridge Mix
3. Gumdrops
4. YabbaZabba bars
5. Look bars
6. Sky bars
7. Squirrel zippers
8. Caramel with marshmallow inside (can't think of the name)
9. Uno Bars
10. Lolly pops of many flavors
They sometimes still make coke in a bottle, but the bottles are fairly small. You might want to check with Coca Cola, Inc. to see what they have.
For food, potato chips, hot dogs and hamburgers, cupcakes. Have fun!
I would try to think of a game to be played with licorice sticks. Something like, "jump rope?" Pin the "licorice" tail on the donkey?
Most kids like pizza, maybe you can make one out of candy too?
how about makin lihimoi candy strips, it is a hawaiian candy that is very sweet! go on the internet and see if you can buy it anywhere, or go to your local candy shop and see if they sell it, i'm from hawaii so i eat it all the time!
there is a website called "hometownfavorites.com" that has tons of types of candy that is hard to find. don't know how soon your party is but you could always check it out
You have to have caramel corn, play a Charlie and the Chocolate factory game by hiding a gold ticket in one of the bags, then give the winner a prize.
I have 2 sites that might interest you:

Strawberry soda with vanilla ice cream...
Swanson foods have a score of juice flavors, green apple, blueberry, and such you can make them into popsicles ,then take carebear stickers and stick them on the stick part and maybe add a bow..Care Bear Popsicles.Like blueberry popsicles with the rainbear sticker and a blue ribbon.
Kick the can is an old game.
Old fashioned Americana Food..him..What about Coney Island chilli dogs or fryes,Funnel Cake,Grilled Paninis,American Dumplings...hope I helped a lil.
I think you should serve burgers and fries also. Maybe have a skating contest and a the best dressed encourage everyone to dress for that era also. A houla hoop contest, maybe even a karaoka with music from that time frame and encourage the kids and parents to dance.
I think there are unlimited possibilities it jsut depends on your budget and the time frame you have to prepare. I think an old fashion popcorn machine would be a nice touch.
HAVE FUN!
Ginger snaps are about as old as even I am! I remember "penny candies",little pieces of candy, that sold for a penny each. lots of games little kids love,,hide and seek, pin the tail on the donkey,,tying a baloon to each kids foot, and tell them to try to bust everyone;s ballon, with out theirs getting busted.( and a cheap prize, for the winner) bean bag toss,, a pinata,,,,my persoanl favorite ws spin the bottle,,,,,,
Pinata, pin the tail on the donkey. I remember the first birthday party I went to at about 6 yrs old, we were shown a room & told to remember as many things in the room as we could. There was alot of stuff in the room. We were shown the room 1 at a time, for 1 minute. Then someone else took us to the kitchen and wrote down all the stuff we said we remembered. The 2 that remembered the most got pretty good prizes and the rest of us got candy bags.
You could hide candy in a room in little containers (like Easter egg hunt) but use different containers if it is after Easter. A hobby store should have something to put candy in.
You could lay 7-8 different wrapped candies out on a table and let the children look & touch them. Then take them away & put a sleep mask on them, hand them one of the same candies & have them guess which one it is.
Watch Charlie & the Chocolate factory & get some Ideas from the movie.
Send them home with helium balloons filled with a few candies.
As for food stay away from sweets, sounds like they are going to be hyper enough. Hot dogs, pizza, chips....
You could stack up tiny white bread sandwiches with sweet fillings; jam, peanut butter and chocolate spread. Stick cocktail sticks through trios of sandwiches and thread a soft sweet like a liquorice allsort onto the top.
Just an idea!
xox
maybe have a "guess how many candies are in the jar?" game
the kids could make a "picture" using various candy..and icing for "glue" just put foil around a piece of cardboard and let them have fun with it
